You think carmelo is going to waste 25 games left in the nets schedule and see his friends like lebron, amare, wade, kobe, durant, and chris paul in the playoffs him setting on the couch in april at home. The nets are 17win and 40losses a team that has no chance to get to playoffs and he going to team up with adre miller i know both guys rather be in the playoffs then be at home.

Carmelo Anthony will finally meet face-to-face with Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov over All-Star weekend, sources tell ESPN.com.

The Nuggets are encouraging Anthony to meet with Prokhorov because they covet Derrick Favors more than any other player mentioned.

give me a break already

can just hear all those guys in the Nuggets FO. Heck yeah Derrick Favors, heres some tape of him missing dunks and free throws and being a bust. *DROOOOOOL*

Wait, what? His peers (LeBron, Wade and Bosh) spent their Free Agency concocting a way to play together for $14mil a piece, far less than they could have gotten...but there are actually people out there who believe Melo will take as much $$$ as possible to play on a lotto team because it's "home"? Particularly when he can come across the river to a bigger market, with a playoff team where the money will still be there to play along side a friend of his?

yeah seriously and the actual quote from the blurb was

Although details of a formally scheduled meeting have yet to emerge, Denver officials are operating under the assumption that Melo and Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov will finally meet face-to-face during All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles, according to sources close to the process.

operating under assumption lol

thats pretty definitive huh lol

For the ability to sign his 65m extension...YES. He's not Lebron or Kobe or Durant. They all have different personalities.

It really seems like Denver would rather trade him for trash just to spite the Knicks. That is just wrong and unprofessional. Then again, what can we do?

What's funnier is them secretly thinking Melo can be duped into playing on an awful team so Denver can get the guy they want.

"Hey Melo. We'd appreciate it if you'd forget about the rest of the season and possibly the remainder of your career. Please choose the Nets 'cause, well, we really, really, REALLL like that kid Derrick Favors. Oh yeah, plus it's home for you :D "

Unlike most of you on here I am not going to profess to know carmelo as a person. I don't know what he values more in his life right now. Waiting until F/A and seeing what the new collective bargaining agreement is going to look like or signing his extension. People need to seriously stop acting like they know what the f is going on in the kids life right now. And people need to definitely stop acting like it's soooo easssy to walk away from 65mil. Heck most of us would do a lot worse than play for the NJ NETS in the national basketball association for 500 grand.

Nothing. This thing was always in Melo's hands. The Nyets were not going to just go away. Not only are they bad and desperate, but they can't afford for him to go to their much stronger and more popular local competitor.

So them ending it was not realistic. Melo has to end it. But I don't really know what he's made of. He appears to be ready to cave but some reports say he's still not interested in the Nyets. Who knows. Money usually trumps everything though, so we should be prepared.

Talk is cheap. He said he's all about winning and we know he wants MSG badly, and said he doesn't care about money as much as winning, but will he follow through on that? I have my doubts. Up to Melo to walk the walk. FUNNY PART: The new CBA will not hurt Melo very much but I don't know if he understands that. It is an IMAGINED risk and not a real one. But imagined risks are very common, especially when it comes to money, and they tend to be powerful. So we should be ready for the tent folding to occur.

As for Denver, they're a mess. This is a team that can't get their offers straight, that gave a big contract to Al Harrington and a long-term deal to Balkman. They are a poor organization. So it's impossible to believe that they'd figure out that the Nets offer is not really that good. Really, the Nets would be getting him for a bag of garbage.

At least the Knicks are dealing them established good players. A lottery bust and a mediocre lottery pick are nothing to get excited about at all. It may excite guys like The Rebel but ... this is a guy who thought he could deal Billups for Wade and a draft pick. So that tells you what we're dealing with here. The Rebel probably represents the average Nuggets front office thinking.

Sure, as soon as we get away from this false idea that he can't make the same money in NY and he probably wouldn't lose much if any. Bottom line is there is likely minimal difference financially between allowing Denver to use the power of extension vs. playing for the Knicks with endorsements. It's even less when you have the joy of playoffs to comfort you on your money losses.

Denver is trying to rebuild now and somewhat contend for playoffs next season, which is a pipe dream. they don't want to be Cleveland Cavaliers of the east. they know melo is leaving and they wont attract any new Free Agents next season so they are trying HARD to save face, face which they know is going to get planted on a pile of **** pretty soon. so they choose to play media mind games. listen, its somewhat smart and win/win for them, BSPN and all those clown so called reporters; it makes people read and watch BSPN =PROFIT, and denver thinks they are scarring NY. DONNIE KNOWS ALL OF THIS, LIKE A BAUSSSS HE IS. he's dumps are more clever than Denver FO

IN DONNIE I TRUST

Come on KG be fair. Favors is how old? 19 or 20. He's played what half a season? And he's a bust? Well if he's a bust than Randolph is a bigger bust (which I don't believe) but teams still want him.

I've really come full circle on this thing. I'm truly hoping that Melo says no to the Nyets and Walsh says NO to Denver (get the fk out of the way Dolan).

I truly hope it goes to FA.

If it does, Donnie makes some deals now... we maximize the assets we have and get better and then

Melo signs with us. It's the best possible scenario.... a bit of a risk but still the best outcome for the team.

He's a professional Basketball player. Somewhere in the back of that head he wants to win! If not then he'd just retire. How many top 10 basketball players do you know of who would rather forego winning to run for the $$$ and play for what equates to an expansion team because it's "home"? What makes it worse is the Knicks would still be home and the $$$ wouldn't be that big a drop, IF AT ALL! This is just that same irresponsible $65mil scare tactic the media screamed to date. It's BS.

Do you want me to dig up my tweet from when I asked Coon what he could see Melo signing for as a free agent? It's no false idea. And the kid doesn't have the charisma of even an Amar'e so the endorsements are going to be the same (to me) wherever he goes. I just know one thing if he signs the extension for either Denver or NJ I ain't going to be mad at him. 65MILLLION GUARANTEED!!!! Guaranteed..... is a lot of coin. If he doesn't all it takes is one torn patella or a serious back injury for him to never have the chance to sign a contract like this ever again. I'm not saying he will or he won't but I'm definitely not going to hate on the guy if he does. He's gotta do what he's gotta do.
