Very OT question
So I'm from Boston and obviouslly we only have 1 team in each sport. My buddy and I were arguing if we had two teams and our favorite didnt make the playoffs would we root against the other team.
So my question is. Say the Lakers and Clippers both make the playoffs but the Lakers get knocked out. Would you root against the Clippers.
What is the aligance like?

Re: Very OT question
Hardcore clipper fans dislike the lakers, but hardcore laker fans have a soft spot for the clippers. Me, being a laker fan first, and if the lakers were to get eliminated or not make the playoffs, then ofcourse i would root for the clippers. after all, LA is LA.

I don't like the Clippers' owner and I don't support the Clippers.

Re: Very OT question
Personally I hope the Clips get the 8th seed (lols) and knock out the Spurs and then we eliminate them in the WCF Battle LA...

Re: Very OT question
I live in Orlando and have been a TRUE Laker fan since I saw them as a young boy getting swept by the hated 76ers! Orlando is my second team I guess. But I would go for the Clippers if LA exits the playoffs. Only because I like Blake G and Baron Davis and Eric Gordon.

Depends on who they played. Normally I would root against any team that beats my team, but if they played a team I just despise like the Spurs, then I'd go Blakeshow.

Re: Very OT question
honestly if lakers don't win it, (which it looks like they might not), i wouldnt mind spurs taking on the best of the east. as long as boston or miami don't win it.

Re: Very OT question
When the Lakers lose, I dont care who wins... I generally hope for the most exciting finals possible, but I dont root for, or against anyone (except the Celtics, Spurs, Suns, Kings etc)... If the Clippers knocked the Lakers out of the playoffs or developed some sort of rivalry with us, no way I would root for them to win anything

im a big time laker fan. i remember when the lakers lost to the suns in the 1st round a few years back.. clipps went to the western conference finals with cassell and brand, and i was cheering for them to win. ill always cheer for the clipps.. especially now with EJ, blake, bdiddy, DJ.. of course i want lakers to win more. and i would not want spurs to win. as good a team as they are, they are dang boring. id rather see okc or dallas win

No doubt. I hate them, but that doesn't mean that I don't respect them. In a way the hate and respect sort of go hand to hand, I respect the fact that they always seem to be there at the end with us, and that they can truly beat us. I view the Spurs as sort of being the Celtics of the west, and lets face it none of us want to lose to the Celts. I guess despise was too strong of a word. Its not a bad hate I have just a competitive hate if you will.

Re: Very OT question
Never really cared for the Clips. But now that they're exciting and fun (aka they have Blake Griffin), I am rooting for them to win every single game they can besides against the Lakers, just so I can have more Blake highlights.

Re: Very OT question
The only reason I'm watching the Clips is because of Griffin.
However I'd not cheer for them if they advance farther than us.

I'm a basketball fan so yea if I have free time or if I came across one of their games while browsing channels..why not, but if the lakers gets eliminated, I doubt they would last long in the playoffs either...so yea you'll just waste your time cheering for them.

The Spurs are at the bottom of my "Want to win" list with Boston and Miami. Portland used to be on that list, but I feel like they changed as a franchise. Phoenix needs a mention as well.
Sacramento would be on the list, but I didn't want to get their hopes up.

Re: Very OT question
^^
well obviously i'd want other teams to win it too, but realistically speaking, the teams with the best chances are boston, la, miami, orlando and san antonio. out of those teams, if LA doesnt win it, then i'd want the spurs. I wouldnt mind if orlando came away with it...but i'd like it if the championship stayed in the west
