OT: Sony Vaio VPC-Z122GX

Post#1 » by alldayeveryday » Fri Feb 18, 2011 2:19 am

If this isn't acceptable to be posted on these boards MODS please delete topic.

Currently have a Sony Z series that is a month old and was given to me for Christmas. I am happy with my Macbook Pro. I'm just curious to know if anyone is looking for a laptop? I don't mind shipping any were in the US w/ insurance. Open for suggestions that make the most financial sense.

Here are the spec's of the unit : http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=VPCZ122GX

I don't see any issue with it for a board regular like yourself, it's when people join RealGM or come to the board just to sell something that it's spam.

I already have a VAIO of my own though :D

Hmmm....
I don't think it's a legal thread but I won't be doing any backyard modding.

Checked the specs online and it doesn't seem all that impressive considering its price. Samsung has better ones at lower prices.
Mine, for example, is somewhat similar to the one your offering, according to this site at least.
Samsung R540JS04: i5 M450 @ 2.4 GHz, Ati 545v, 320GB HDD, 4GB DDR3 ram, pathetic battery but I plug in most of the time, cost me $800
Sony Vaio VPCZ122GX/S: i5 M450 @ 2.4GHz, GeForce GT330M, 120GB SSD, 4GB DDR3 Ram, decent battery, might cost above $1500

It's not worth it if you ask me. But hey, I'm not tech expert so...

Just out of curiosity, how much are you selling for?

The major difference in the specs is the hard-drive from what you’re comparing to your model. That's why the price of the unit is a little high. SSD > HDD, Full back lit keyboard, noise cancelling head phones, and most importantly the size/weight factor. I doubt having 6 hours of battery life is pathetic the last time I checked. I just want something like I said that makes sense. You can type the model online and see what they go for. You can’t really compare one model to another since at the end of the day its personal preference on the consumer.

I understand that a SSD reads a lot faster than a HDD and would generally be awesome if we're running our OS on one but I think 320 GB is barely enough let alone 120 GB.
And my battery life is around 2 hours. That is pathetic.

Like I said, personally, I don't think it's worth it.

It says it has a Nvidia 330M which is certainly a lot better than what most laptops are shipping with today. If you're looking to play some games this laptop might be better for that then your mac.
