first ever post for me, but I have been a long time reader.

Knicks supporter for 20 years, I even went to a game at the Madison in 1999, (I live in Spain), And for the first time since the rockets Finals I think we might get a Team that could be a truly contender. I know we went to the Finals in 1999 but that team was an outlier, and couldn't compete in the finals.

If we get Carmelo, finding pieces to surround him will be MUCH easier than not getting Carmelo and develop Gallo, fields and the others into Championchip caliber players.

I don't care how many players they want from us, As long as Carmelo and Amare are in, the rest will be easyer, I even think Billups is an upgrade over Felton.

So get it done Don.

I remember I followed the Pau Gasol trade rumors very close 3 years ago, and just before he went to the Lakers he was very close to be dealt to Chicago, who didn't get him because they did not want to give up Ben Gordon in the deal. They thougth they could convince Memphis as the deadline aproached, and the Lakers came out of the blue and took him. I don't want the same to happen to us.

GET MELO.

A face to face means nothing. He's already poured his hearts out to his reps. He knows what the deal is. Wasnt interested before so why now?

I have a feeling Melo is not going to pass up the extension, and therefore he will not hit free agency this summer. We need to make our best offer and let Denver decide. No regrets.

It looks like CAA is setting up the meetings and is setting up ones with both the Knicks and Nets. That's a really unexpected turn of events.

Maybe they think Prokhorov will be so impressive compared to Dolan. We can close this out easily. Dolan just needs to show Melo how much we want him. Get it done.

The Knicks should bring Amar'e, fly out Bernard and Walsh should be there too.

Wow this is a great sign to me.

Thats what I was thinking,

If the Knicks nail this meeting which they should be able to we could get Melo for peanuts.
If were able to reaffirm Melo's intent to only sign a contract with the Knicks we'll be good.

One thing it will do is clear up alot of confusion.

There really isnt anything to sell to Melo. Go to a NJ team that stinks like dog crap with a bunch of D-leaguers worse than Clippers of the metro area. Or go play in MSG in NYC, him and Amare pretty much guarantees the playoffs every year. I hope the Denver Nuggets rot in hell for their stupidity handling this entire process so as long as this front office is employed by the team.

I don't even understand why Dolan would need to convince Melo to do anything if he has already expressed that the Knicks are his top choice. I am sure that Melo is fully aware of the existing negotiations and can easily assess whether or not the Knicks are in fact making progress.

That's why i think this story is like most other stories..full of nonsense.

Just to show that he really does care and wants him on his team. Just in case the Nets are serious, he wants to at least match whatever they do.

I don't think it's about convincing Melo to come at all. Not even Asshola says that. It's probably got something to do with Melo or his people saying 'Well if I'm going to meet with the Nyets, I want to meet with the Knicks too.'

Which is fair. And if so, it's smart on Melo's team's part.

But they could also be trying to set us up for failure, figuring that Prokhorov is so impressive compared to Dolan. But Melo is not that dumb. He's not going to be having an intimate relationship with Dolan or Prokhorov -- he's going to be playing for their teams and ours is better.

Dolan is perfectly fine at presenting. I've heard him talk. He's a good talker to me. Yes I said it. He's convincing and he's got the MUCH easier sell.

This is the Nets. Knicks versus Nets? Everybody beats the Nets -- we just took them down on their own court without Amar'e.
