If Melo goes to NJ, they'll find a way to get CP3 the next year and the Knicks will still be a .500, mediocre team with "nice" players like Gallo and Fields. "Nice" players don't win you a championship. Players like STAT and Melo do. The Heat didn't seem to mind trading a "nice" player like Michael Beasley in order to clear cap space to get their Big 3. The Knicks should be operating the same way.

ditto. Next we'll hear he's worse than James etc. Nothing more than people finding ways to express their dislike for Melo, for whatever reason.

I think for the Knicks to get him before the trade deadline the trade will be as you say except it will be Wil or Gallo & Fields.

But D'Antoni will be throwing a fit if they trade Gallo so if Denver makes that a requirement I don't see it happening without D'Antoni going AWOL.

By not forcing his way to NY by now. By not being willing to go to FA so we dont have to gut the team. Pretty simple stuff. He still has time to right the ship but right now he wants his cake and to eat it too, thus selfish greedy impatient diva.

Melo hasn't really said anything about the Nets suddenly being an option. Even in wavering he's never mentioned the Nets or any other team but Denver and NY.

Having Dolan speak to Melo will help. I'm actually surprised that Denver allowed it. I'm guessing they really didn't have a choice (i.e. how'd it look if they allowed Proko but not Dolan). It would really work against them to have Dolan speak to Melo and tell Melo's camp "we absolutely love to have you but your GM is a moron...lets do it this summer".

Are the Nets a championship contender? probably not, but they are now on the same level as the Knicks are..

and yes I buy this report and yes if Melo wants the money he will sign..

also he has never said he wouldnt sign in nj

Melo actually hasn't officially said he'd not re-sign with Denver.

I think it's designed to put pressure on Melo. Denver doesn't even have a third team to take Murphy's contract.

It feels very stitched together and haphazard. And most of all, rushed -- to get Melo to meet, agree, extend. They're putting the bum's rush on him.
