It's so strategic that the offer matches up almost 1 to 1 with what the Nuggets reportedly want from the Knicks.

Harris = Felton
Murphy (traded for TPE) = Curry
Favors = Gallo/Chandler
Uzoh = Fields/Mozgov
1st rounders = 1st rounders

Woj reported last night than 1/2 of the 4 1st rounders were going to the team that would take Murphy's deal. It's almost an exact match. Granted the Knicks players are better than the Nets players, but the offer is identical. It lines up too perfectly for it not to be manufactured. -Jitpal

Uzoh = Fields/Mozgov? Are you nuts, have you seen Uzoh play? This guy hardly belongs in the league, he wouldn't be in the league if it wasn't for the Nets.

The Russian is an idiot.

It actually does make sense for them. Those picks are not as good as people seem to believe (one of the 1sts is a Laker first, no need to say more, another is a protected Warrior 1st that can turn into a 2nd rounder). Favors hasn't looked like a world beater by any means. And, as I mentioned before, Murphy is basically Eddy Curry withs maller breasts. Harris is no better than Felton. The Nets are struggling to get fans to come into the arena even when the tickets are a quarter. They NEED someone like Melo to make money. This deal makes a lot of sense for them. I'd do it too if I were Prokhorov IF Melo is willing to resign.

The "idiot" would be Melo if he actually is willing to resign.

This speaks volumes, or rather will speak volumes, as to:

1) What is really important to Melo ($ via contract or actually playing for the Knicks with a better chance at a ring).

2) Our FO ability to step up to the plate.

3) The credibility of Brooklyn/NJ etc. Nyets as a threat to NYK.

I'll tell you what though, if he does go to Nyets it would be fun if one of us got WIlliams and the other Paul next year.

I'm still holding hope the Melo wants the real NYC, not eventually playing in BK. But if I'm wrong, and that is what NJ gives up, I think Knicks still would have a better team than NJ. And a better future. That is why I don't think #2 will be found to be in the negative, since it truly wants Melo but is smart enough (WALSH) to know the real important thing is that we are a winning ball club.

No one is going to take Murphy when the Nets will end up buying him out if the deal falls through. And if Murphy becomes such a critical piece of a Melo deal you can bet whomever is going to take Murphy (for basically nothing but capspace back routed to Denver) is going to want something significant from someone.

Those two statements (the offer is identical, the knicks offer is better) completely contradict eachother. Sure the offer is identical in the sense that the Nuggests would be getting a PG, an expiring, a F, one other player and picks but beyond that there's not much "identical" about them.
