I think the Denver FO is making a huge mistake here.
We're now in the 11th hour. No more wiggle room.
If Melo rejects a NJ trade, what happens to his value? Right now they can comfortably get Chandler, Gallo + pick from us. Bare minimum.
When Melo rejects a NJ trade, his value becomes nothing. He'll have all but declared that he is ready to ride or die with the new CBA. If he rejects NJ, where else is he going to go? He wont be rented-- and there will be only us left after the dust.
And by then, Denver will lose every bit of leverage it had left. 100% book this:
If Melo rejects a NJ trade, Donnie will offer close to nothing for Melo. Pretty much the Chandler + pick deal.
This is such an unbelievably risky gamble by Denver. I honestly can't believe it. It is too late for Melo to reject a trade + recover from it. Donnie isn't dumb, he'll pull Felton, Fields, Moz off the table if Melo rejects NJ.
