How do people say Amare is not a max guy?? His knee is fine and has been for what 4 years now.. He missed one game this season from a toe injury.. So are there no other teams in the NBA that wouldnt give Amare the max right now if they could ? :o

As an owner of a team, I don't think I would be willing to give that much money to a guy whos contract cant be insured due to a micro fracture knee surgery. Its an enormous financial risk for any owner.

How long do you think it will take dolan to make that 100 million back from profits because of Amare?

Hmm, I assume they'd do the same with Curry too then, right?

If Den has that Murphy/Curry deal in place, they can save 20 million. I think this is incentive enough to deal Melo at the deadline regardless of an extension

As I have said. This is a double move for the Nuggets. Not only do the Nets get a chance to make their sales pitch but Carmelo also gets to ask Dolan to his face why he should take a 20 million dollar paycut just so the Knicks can keep roleplayers like Gallinari and Fields. THere is no good answer to that other than "because it would really be nice of you to". In the end Carmelo cares more about the 20 million than he does about either of those 2 players.

Knicks don't have picks to give to a team like Cleveland to take on Curry's contract. Thats why they had Minny involved and giving them Anthony Randolph in the reported deals.

The difference is, if a team is getting 2 picks to take that contract the Nuggets still end up with two in the Nets deal. In the Knicks deal, the Nuggets would end up giving up a pick to get someone to take that contract.

You think the Nuggets would GIVE UP assets to trade anthony?

We'd have seen Melo agree to the Extension all along now if it was that.

This would mark the THIRD time NJ has reached an "agreement" with Denver.

It remains to be seen if this will be the "charm".

Exactly, NY hasn't even met with Anthony in LA yet. I'm sure Anthony, his wife, and the Nuggets brass will take their time thinking things over, even if they already have a deal supposedly in place now. Its not finalized until closer to the deadline.

You're right, the Knicks could only give Randolph/Min's 1st which is probably not enough to dump Murphy for capspace

I think Den would give up their pick this year to clear 20 mil. PR is bad to give a pick with Anthony, but it's going to be terrible anyways if they're losing him to NY for nada

Agreed.

While I'm saying that Melo won't agree this time, it's not a good record for NJ that this marks the 3rd time they've worked to "reportedly" come to terms with a deal, only to have it fall apart for one reason or another.

All the other times the Nets and Nugs were close. to something. This is the 1st time they agreed. The big IF is Anthony.

#Cavs thought they were close to 3-way deal w/NJ & Den previously. Den pulled out, per source, b/c it wanted all draft picks to themselves

Then he be pack-peddling.

Because NUMEROUS news outlets have backed the 4 Team NJ-DEN-CHA-UTA deal, and the DET-NJN-DEN deals.

Anything else today DCash?

I don't get what the big deal is with Carmelo. NY is better off waiting and making a run at Chris Paul or Dwight Howard. Both of those guys are clearly better than Carmelo, especially Dwight Howard.

As good as Carmelo is, he is not a superstar and he is not worth a max contract.

All Melo needs to do is to realize that he just has to say "thanks but no thanks" to the Nets and the Nuggets WILL trade him. They aren't going to keep him so he isn't going to risk losing on on that money.

Those other two I think they always said "the basic framework has been agreed upon" but never "a deal has been agreed upon contingent upon Melo"
