wow if this deal goes through you have to hand it to the nuggets I would think this has to be the best deal out there by far. CA is going to be in tough spot as wether to accept the nets offer as the team will need to add some big pieces in the off season for them to become a contender. I think this would be good for us though as it keeps him off the knicks as they would have a potent 1-2 punch with ca & stat.

By the way, any deal that gets the Nuggets Anthony isn't a bad deal for them. They need to sell high priced tickets to games in one of the most affluent cities in America, getting Anthony will surely help that. Surely more than having a ton of assets. This is the NBA, four quarters don't equal a dollar. And that's what NJ is trading, a lot of small assets that "equal" the bigger assets.

Got to hand it to Denver IF CA agrees and than they trade Nene for young players + picks from Houston. Would make them in a good rebuild

Has Carmelo said he's just about winning? Like Ben Gordon did?

This thing of saying guys "aren't serious about winning" if they don't come to our team is a little off putting. I remember the SF Giants signed some guys that were, obviously, not serious about winning.

Nets and Knicks are both going to spend. A lot. That gives them a huge advantage. Melo wanting to go now to Cleveland, yes, maybe then he's not concerned about winning.

That's not really a comment about Melo, but moreso about the Nets and Knicks. The Nets deal is hugely crippling to them, and they won't have the draft picks to compete.

Maybe the Nets are better year one, but years 2-whenver I don't think so. As Billups will be gone after this season, they'd have no point guard, a journey man power forward, and a thin as heck bench.

That was more the statement i was trying to make. he's a draw, but he doesn't make them better.

Why trade Nene? Why not keep him

Harris/Lawson
Afflalo
----
Favors/Harrington
Nene

Not a horrible (Cleveland or Minnesota esque) team and considering the massive cap space they have next year, the number of picks, they can be ripe to get a guy who falls out of favor with another team.

Nevermind that Melo doesn't want to play in NJ, he'd also be leaving a better team to go into a worse situation.

Lopez, Billups, and Melo? Really? Give me Nene, Afflalo, and Lawson over the Nets garbage all day every day.

If Melo wants to win, he doesn't accept this trade.

People see quantity and I never understand this. It's the NBA. It's not about quantity. It's never been about quantity. It's entirely based on quality. The Nets are getting the two best players in the deal and one of the top 15 players in the league. Seeing as they still have a decent eight man rotation left after that, they are not paying the tax anytime soon and they actually are not in dire cap straits, this is a good deal for them. I mean Carmelo Anthony is better than any player they traded. It's rare that a team gets the best player in a deal and doesn't get at least a good deal coming back to them.

I would think denver would want to keep Nene. If Favors can develope that gives makes them set at pf & c. Center is a hard spot to fill - i'd use the rest of those picks to fill out the roster plus you could trade harris for a sf.

1. Why does it have to be about winning? Do you work at the absolute best job for you? Or something that fits a plethora of needs that has different values?

2. In NJ can't he still get a decent player in the 2012 FA class (currently Paul, Howard and Williams set to be FA)?

3. Doesn't living in home matter to people?

I am not sure Nene would want to stay especially since he has the ability to opt out like Anthony.

I think Nene wants to get paid and win, maybe he goes to Houston.

I disagree. I think an elite PG such as Paul or Williams would love to run the pick and role with Amare. IF he is still healthy by then anyways.

It's not the player Amare is. If you're a star player and you think that you need to "team up" are you hitching your wagons to Amare's knees? And the fact you have to beat Miami to just get to the Finals?

1. Why does it have to be about winning? Because the best players in the NBA are judged by how many games they've won. I'm not sure what I have to do with this argument because I don't get judged at my job depending on how succesful my company is.

2. What makes you think Paul, Howard, or Williams would want to come to NJ/Brooklyn? Isn't it conceivable that the same doubts that Melo has in accepting the trade to the Nets will be shared by the aformentioned names?

3. Does it matter to NBA players? Why are the Lakers and Bulls also listed as teams Melo would sign an extension with?

He hasn't. He's also willing to sign with the Lakers and Bulls.

In the end I bet this doesn't happen either. Melo plays out the season in DEN and probably signs there. All based on my theory that he wants the $ more than anything, but DEN>NJ so he would probably consider DEN his best option.

That's a good point but I have not heard the talk that he wants to leave. If I'm denver I would want to want to sign him to an extension as it would be so much easier to rebuild with him. Otherwise you are going to be left with a bunch of young players and they will be out of the playoff picture for a while.
