Re: [Camelo Thread Part 20] - Down to the Wire?
Walsh has two strategies to choose between:
(1) Try to secure a trade for Melo now, and lock him up longterm. This is the safe route. The main downside is that we'd have to give up a ton of our assets, and thereby have little to offer for any future trade (e.g. for CP3 or Deron). This route secures a good roster (Amare + Melo), but may equally andermine any chance we have of getting a great roster (e.g. CP3-Amare-Melo)
(2) Try to keep Denver busy in the hopes that no Melo trade gets completed. This means that we can go into the offseason with all our assets (perhaps trading Randolph for a pick on route), and can have a chance to sign Melo outright, plus have Felton and Turiaf's valuable expirings along with prospects and future picks for a CP3 trade.
Obviously each strategy has its risks, but I think Walsh has proven to be the kind of GM who will take calculated risks. I'm thinking that unless we can force Denver into accepting a completely lopsided deal in our favor, our real strategy is #2.

I got a happy hour gig at this bar that has all high-end German beer, so yeah, I'll be torched by 8:00.

I am 100 percent certain Nets and Nuggets have an agreement in place. Deal is pending Anthony's approval.
Welcome to last month Iannazzone.

How many days until this is over?
In Dog Years this will last for another 42 days. I would stock up on frozen dinners so you don't have to leave the house.

Tru Dat. Someone made a point, that even if we trade all those players it wouldn'tmatter, because in two years, those guys wouldn't be here anyway. We have got to go get Melo, no matter the cost. You can find those players again. Get it done Donnie!!

If that were true, then Billups has negative value in the trade.

I am in telepathic communication with Walsh.... and you are right.
He has been saying all along ... for months that he won't blow up the team and that he prefers to wait for FA.... I have telepathy!

Next 24 hours you will be doing nude handstands outside MSG next to Pharmcat while you perform a duet of Ain't Too Proud To Beg.
Your punishment has been delivered.

It's like Mtv Rock-n-Jock they used to show back in the day. This first ever trade during an Allstar game.
