I hope he doesn't become a Net. I wanted him to go somewhere more "attractive" .

It seems like tampering to me, its very strange how they are openly meeting with opposing players.

See what I mean about the Media jumping the gun these days? :nonono:

Next thing you know we hear it's dead, or their Owner has taken the Team out of it.

This is becoming worse than the Lebron-drama. It's effecting pretty much the entire League right now as Teams either await followup deals, or the Nuggets Front Office keeps jerking people around (whether it be NJ, NY, or someone else).

The last deal NJ went all-in on for Melo, it fell apart for two reasons:

--The Petro contract
--Nuggets suddenly wanting to add Al Harrington's deal at the last minute

denver has given permission. no tampering if denver is ok with it.

I will say this right now, if we have to deal with this stuff in 2012, just wake me up when the ink is wet on the contract after the player uses his signature.

Rumors are just disguised lies.

Its not considered tampering if Denver gives permission. I believe the whole concept is that you're "tampering" with the the player's agreement with his current team (in this case, Denver). If they're cool with it, you're not really interfering with their agreement.

Man, sports journalism is such a joke. I'm a Knicks fan, but there's such errant reporting that I feel like if any of these clowns were reporting actual news, they'd be fired. Look what happened to Dan Rather, for instance, and he was insanely respected. There are so many errant, and contradictory reports, with what have turned out to be terrible sources, that it stuns me that the vast majority of these people still have work. Honestly, how do the most respected people in their field get so much wrong on such a consistent basis and still have jobs?

Seriously, this doesn't happen in any other sport, where you have months upon months of rumors, fake inside sources, fabrications, and teams leaking out misleading information. Only in basketball. smh

See my post above.

The problem here is that they keep backpeddling. One minute they're "sources" say one thing, then the next minute it's completely the opposite.

Posting a Tweet as a source (regardless of who in the media it's from) is no indicator of a "done-deal".

Until dotted lines are signed, then deals are done. Otherwise every Tweet and Article being posted are just hearsay and RUMORS.

Heck you and I can start-up some Twitter Accounts and start a Rumor these days (Brent Barry even joked about that on NBATV).

I understand this, I just think it's a strange situation. I can't remember it happening before. I don't think it's very good for the league.

As long as an "extend and trade" is allowed I don't really see any way around it.

It happened every single time there was an extend'n'trade and in some other occasions.

Personally I think in the end Gallinari will be included. When it comes down to it Carmelo isn't going to take 20 million less dollars just so the Knicks can have a better backup SF. I think he would take it as a slap in the face.

I think Melo wanted to be a Nugget this year and than when free agency comes, see what is out there. I don't think he expected all this media attention. Its going to be worse for Howard.

It is very weird.

In soccer, FIFA and UEFA don't allow players to meet with other clubs when they are under contract. If you do it, clubs can complain about you and UEFA will suspend your license for a year up to 5 years.

I don't think that's a very smart move with the cba set to expire in a few months. He should be looking to sign an extension now.

I think the person it'll be worse for is Deron, especially given the whole Sloan situation.
