I'd hate to see a lot of these people try to negotiate **** for their jobs, like contracts. My mom was union president for her chapter, and I've heard all of the stories about contract negotiations.

When you have leverage, use it! Don't give in to the demands of those you're negotiating with just because they put someone you want on the table. Your job is to get the best possible deal for yourself and those depending on you.

Melo said there's no meeting scheduled with Prokhorov but later in the article he's saying he wants to meet with all his suitors : Knicks, Net and guess ? Lakers ! He mentioned the Lakers too.

You have to LOL after reading that. Melo contradicts himself in the same article ! He looks confused. I wonder if he really knows what he wants.

Anthony, speaking Friday at a NBA Cares Day of Service event in Los Angeles, said "no meeting at all" is scheduled with the Nets. Calling it "news to me," Anthony said: "If I was to meet with that guy (Prokhorov) to be honest I really don't know what I would say."

He added: "I know this is the All-Star week but it's also a big week for me as far as having some knowledge about my situation." He said that he would like to have "something up in stone before I leave here this weekend" and that he might "not get any more sleep for the next four or five days."

Asked whether he wants to meet directly with his suitors before making a deal, Anthony said: "I think, with anything in business, you want to sit and look in a person's eyes. Whether it's Prokhorov or it's [New York Knicks owner James] Dolan, whether it's [Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry] Buss, the third team that just came out last week. Whoever it is, you want to sit and have eye contact with them and get a feel for 'em."

i didnt see this as contradictory though..

then he said he would like something to be set by the end of the weekend..

then lastly i think hes speaking in general business terms, that if hes doing business with someone then hed want to meet with them face to face.. so if he doesnt meet with them (which i dont think he will) then hes not doing business with them.. lol thats how it came across to me when i read it

This is going to drag on til the very last minute imo. I dont see Denver getting off their high horse until they have no other options and even then they may just decide to keep him and take their chances in free agency then accept a Chandler/Curry/AR or 1st offer, which is all I see Donnie giving up. And Im glad, just for once Id like to see us get the better end of a deal.

And if Melo cant wait til free agency so our roster doesnt get raped then F him he never really wanted us to begin with.

Assumption #1} Dolan and Walsh are working opposed to eachother not together
Assumption #2} Denver has the right to determine Carmelos future but if Carmelo tries then hes either an amateur or greedy
Assumption #3} After 6months of sticking to his guns Carmelo will cave in at the last sec and follow the money
Assumption #4} Carmelo's advisors and agents are ignorant and greedy but novice GMs and their staffs are not

Reality #1a. Dolan is not the sharpest tool in the shed because it took him years to figure out that Isiah was ruining the Knicks franchise.
Reality #1b. Even after years of Isiah's **** ups Dolan still wants to hire him as an offical adviser to the Knicks. This means he doesn't have 100% confidence in Walsh and we don't know what the two (Isiah & Dolan) of them are talking about at this moment.
Reality #1c. Dolan is going to meet with Melo not Walsh.

re: Assumption #2. I don't know where you are getting that but I agree Carmelo has every right to try to determine his future. I've never called him greedy. I just feel that if it was me and I had an $83 million dollar contract on the table and realizing that is my family's ticket to ride for several generations it would be very very hard for me to turn it down. But that's just me.

Reality #3. Melo himself has said he would take a very hard look at signing that contract. see above.

Reality #4. Yes, I believe Leon Rose (and I admit that this may be a bit of an assumption on my part) to be a typical lawyer who at the end of the day is looking out for himself.

A lot of this is me as a slightly older person looking back at being 26 years old and realizing that a person of that age may not have the tools necessary to deal with business at this high a level. Case in point Lebron James. Look at all the damage he did to his brand by handling the "Decision" in a very immature fashion. Another case of advisers giving their client bad advice. And guess what? It was the same cast of characters.

ESPN reporting that the Nets deal is going through as Melo will sign the extension if the Knicks don't acquire him. Or some ****. Kinda confusing.
