Before this happens Melo has to ACCEPT extension with Nyets...
Until he does, we have leverage.

people should be thanking him for giving NY a chance, the same chance lebron, wade, bosh, etc never gave

If he was really wanting to give NY a chance, he would shut up, play out the season and then sign in the summer. He doesn't have to stones to do it because he's scared he's going to lose his money. That's fine. Some players just don't have what it takes to play in NY. We will find out in the next few days if he has the stones for NY or not. -Jitpal

F it. Let him go to the Nets and miss the playoffs for three straight years. He's so much better off in Denver.

I personally dont mind he wants his money. I like money too. The interesting part to me is that he is making it more difficult to get his money from the job he wants and he is settling. It is really mindboggling that, if he really wants to come to NY and we are willing to pay him his money, that he is making it more difficult for himself to get here. Forget the team, forget us, it does not make sense for him. He can have his cake and eat it too if he just puts the pressure on the Nuggets.

IDK about that one. Wing scoring isn't really our problem. It's defense and rebounding that is killing us. Melo helps with only one of those issues. I'd rather get after someone like Tyson Chandler and a solid back up point guard. Having Tyson Chandler + Mozzy + Turiaf + Amar'e would make us a pretty big team next year.

Plus I thought in the deal the Nuggets want to include Fields?

He'll get is money either way. He is just going about it in a really weak way.

This.
Just tell Den that you want the Knicks period. They will be compensated, it's not like we're offering crap. As long as it's a reasonable deal for us, and everyone not named Amare like Den is asking for is unreasonable for us.

If Melo wants to compete for a title here, we can't give up a full fair price and Denv needs to understand that. They have to understand that we're trying to build a contender here not just get Melo to sell tickets. If Melo wants to truly be here, then he has to put the pressure on them to trade him here or say that he'll just walk away as a FA. He's still going to get a nice amount of $ and no way is giving up 65mill completely like Pharmcat makes it sound.

LMAO

We shouldn't be thanking Melo for sh*t. This was his decision, and his choice of how to handle it. If he acted like a man, this wouldn't be an issue. Instead, he chooses to let his handlers play out this circus, and he is trying to force our hand when he has all the power to expedite this process in his favor, but chooses not to use it.

If we don't get him, I won't shed a tear, because it was always his job to get himself here, not ours.

I can't blame him for wanting this over with if it's affecting him so much -- his advisors should be better but what can you do.

But as far as reading that press conference as anti-Knick, I think the stuff that he said about how he thinks NY is building something great, it's a great sign for us.

Chillax.

Percentage of posters on this thread that are troll fans from other teams trying to cause panic? This is absurd, nothing has happened and it seems as though everyone here has given up.

Since when?

"If Chauncey is traded, he'd want to be bought out so he could survey the landscape and re-evaluate what he wants to do going forward," agent Andy Miller told ESPN.com.

A source close to Billups has stated that his preferred destination would be Miami. The Heat are capped out, so the veteran guard would have to play for the veteran's minimum. The belief is that he would take a pay cut in order to chase another NBA championship.

I am not excited to see this if he doesn't come to New York. He doesn't deserve hate.

Yes he does. He'd be going to a worse team for money, all because he was afraid to man up and do what had to be done. That would make him worse than Lebron.

I still don't think he's going to the Nets though. I'm just saying.
Who are you to say he's bad for not coming to New York. What if Melo was playing here and wanted out. How mad would you be if he went public on the one destination he would go? Double sided coin. I think he's trying to respectfully leave.
Yeah but Combo I don't think GONYK likes him that much anyway. He's said it before. I ain't going to hate. But then again I don't hate LBJ either. I watch basketball to be entertained because it's a great game and I love it and I always, always side with the player.
