I think that's a bit simplistic. Dolan wants to win championships. But more than that, I suspect what he really wants is to have a prestigious team that puts butts in seats. At the end of the day, he has proved time and again that he lacks the kind of class, intelligence, wisdom, or patience to do things right.

I would not be at all surprised if Donnie Walsh resigns (as in retires) after this season because of how Dolan handled himself this week.

I'm just wondering where do we go from here? It's like throwing the season away. We don't have the depth to compete at a high level without the rest of these guys like Gallo, Chandler, etc.

douglas, walker, turiaf, and williams all give solid minutes that is depth there. Plus buke could be coming back

Walsh>>>Melo

I wouldn't be surprised if you were right though. I said as much in a previous thread.

I think Amare and Melo both missing in action cannot be a coincidence....

i think this is too much to give up.

I'm not attached to giving up Gallo, Felton or Chandler.

but this is one tough pill to swallow. You're giving up on a lot of home grown young talent here and that is what makes it difficult to digest.

This better have a cp3 attachment to it or this is too much to give up. We're in a position of strength, and we give up this much??? I can understand having to part with AR, Gallo, Chandler... but Felton too? Do people realize we're giving away 52 pts a game??

You're not the only one. After 40+ years watching this team...enough is enough. When Amare begins having issues, this deal will look very different - but the Knicks will be capped out in perpetuity - again, but with few real assets.

Honestly...I've been addicted to this team, and it's time to end that addiction. Life's just too short.

Isiah was not at meeting in LA but he is advising James Dolan. I know, I know, some still refuse to admit it and/or believe it.

This is some more idiocy. It presumes that Dolan is brain dead and can't tie his shoes.

You have to see that it's fun to cartoonize public figures -- especially billionaires whose father earned their inheritance -- but it's just media and fan craziness.

So Isiah is advising Dolan -- what does that mean? Dolan can't figure out whether he wants to include Gallo in the deal? That's something that Dolan needs help figuring out?

Who cares if Isiah offered his opinion? Big freaking deal. He's not running the club -- clearly Walsh is. And if he is running the club, well he's done a pretty good job. Do we want to take all that credit we've given to Walsh and give it to Isiah?

I think Dolan is stupid to think Isiah is someone who he should be friends with, after the sexual harassment thing and all of the ego he exhibits -- but I know that I wouldn't want to be judged by all of my friends.

It's a cartoon image of Dolan. Nobody really knows him. We don't know what he thinks or does or how he operates.

All I know is that he made some mistakes with Isiah. People make mistakes. I also know that he has never refused to fund (and fund to the max) his team. And that's important.

I filter out the boogie man stuff. And I also take into account that his father has managed a multi-billion dollar business and he has been at the head of large businesses too. Not exactly an easy task -- he has more competence and better intentions than a lot of people want to admit. That's what I'd bet.

Isola is a perfect example of someone who wants to paint this very dark tale about Dolan because he's got nothing better to do and he's probably very jealous of all that cashola that Dolan has.

really? i mean i lose gallo too but the trade is basically gallo for melo

Gallo for Melo, why that is preposterous  Lemme guess, trading gallo suddenly causes us to have no bench and be a terrible D team.

I think this would be a very fair compromise on our part.

Haha...no you're not. You are just emotional because we are losing Gallo. I'm pissed too but you'll get over it. He'll come back for the MLE in a couple of seasons.

I hate losing gallo. I hate even more, giving gallo, chandler and 10 other players plus picks.. honestly, I will probably enjoy watching more nuggets games, because honestly, I think they will be more fun to watch and a better team than the knicks in the long run.... you heard it here first.. if this deal happens, and they keep chandler, they will have a nice team in two years, while the knicks will keep getting bent over by miami..

If this trade does happen and Dolan is responsible, I'm not sure how DW will react and if he's going to quit etc. That will be another interesting story to follow, but that's for another time

Dolan doesn't have to worry bout putting butts in the seats. The team was selling out games during the Isiah era. The guy not only wants to win, but imagine the ratings increase MSG Network would get with Melo on the team.

So our team would be something like this

PG - Billups/Douglas/Rautins
SG - Fields/Azubuike/Mason Jr
SF - Melo/Walker
PF - Amare/Williams
C - Mozgov/Turiaf

Then possible additions of Balkman and/or Ely to fill out the roster from the trade?

As we all speculate Randolph is headed to Minny in the trade

I tell you this...this is NOT a Mike D'Antoni team if and when this deal goes down as reported.
But again, no high fives 'til the press conference. And Melo WILL cry.

Return to New York Knicks
