What is most likely to happen in the first month of melo in ny?

a) He doesnt show up to play
b) he gets shot in the leg in a night club
c) He averages 40 points a game
d) He debuts at the garden wearing #33
e) A mix of b, c, and D.

Must be a real warrior to get shot in the leg and still average 40 :dontknow:

Personally I think we're giving up too much, but if this is what it takes to get Mello then so be it.

In the end, who comes off the bench, with the eception of Chandler, remains the same. The scoring should even it's self out.

yup. If chauncey is gonna ask for a buyout, then let gallo threaten to go back to italy.

Advantages:

-Billups already knows how to play with Carmelo and gets along well with him.
-It would also give us a very steady, intelligent back-court with Billups Fields.

Disadvantages
-Felton has been playing 38 minutes per game. Billups has only been playing 32. That's a problem.
-Felton is highly motivated. It remains to be seen whether Billups would be.
-Felton is someone we could potential keep beyond his 2 year contract if no Paul/Williams. Billups, on the other hand, will probably be too over-the-hill at that point.

I guess that's why we also get Anthony Carter in the deal.

Why would they do that if Melo doesn't make them?

I have respect for those who want to develop the home grown stars but let's be real...nobody we would be giving away is worthy of the title "home grown star." Nobody in this deal is a star except Melo, and he's a superstar. For those who are against this deal, what is the alternative you'd propose? Develop Gallo? Sign Chandler to a 10M dollar contract? Whoever said the thing about Melo changing Denver's franchise around is right...you go after these players and you don't look back. Aren't you tired of winning 30 games a year...now potentially being an average .500 team? We'd team up two of the fiercest scorers in the league. Having assets is nice but you eventually have to develop them as stars or use them. Who else would you rather have? Saying Melo and A'mare are flawed is a joke...every player has flaws, those two are top 12 players in the league and we'd have them both...come on. All the fussing over Gallo, Chandler, and Felton? Two of those three weren't long term options anyway.

hell, i'm 99.99% sure they will come back and change things up just like they have in every other possible melo deal.

With Prokorov arriving in town tomorrow, they are no doubt going to milk this and try to move the goal posts.

Now it's up to Melo to seal the deal on his hand - now he knows we are serious for him so he needs to nix the Nets once and for all.

he can't play in italy. he's under contract.

That's not in Danilo's DNA

This is what he needs to take the next step. Dolan just slapped him in the face now he's going to play with real chip on his shoulder and become the player I think he's going to be or the player some y'all think he is

If the Knicks don't win a title I want the Nuggets to win one

Nah Karl will get Gallo out of the damn corner and actually give him a role that suits him. He is going to flourish and become the player we all wanted him to become in NY. If Melo was here he would be a great 6th man but I don't think he ever would have become a Manu because of the players that surround him aren't exactly Tim Duncan's.

This trade will definitely takes some of my passion for the Knicks to Denver. I will be watching very closely. Hopefully our guys can take them out of the 8th seed the superstar Melo has them in right now.

I am praying that we do not do this deal! Even though it has become apparent Melo might not want us as much as we thought he did, I want us to keep this team intact and instead go after Gasol this year, and maybe Deron or Paul in 2012.

Funny when we Got Raymond Felton a lot of people on this board were mad saying they wanted Luke Ridnour... Then just about a month ago when Ray was slumping a lot of people where on this board willing to trade him away for a Dleague PG and a ham sandwich from Subway. Now that he is about to get traded away these same people are singing his praises saying how great he is. Some Knicks fans are bi-polar I swear.

News flash guys your not gonna get a top 10 talent in this league via trade without giving up pieces of value, and we are gonna lose Ill Will anyways in FA. So basically we're trading Gallo, Felton, Fat Eddie (Expiring), and a pick for Melo and Chauncey. Why are we mad again? I know where gonna be a lil light on the bench, but players will want to come to a contending knicks team that plays in the greatest city/market in the world. I'm not concerned about us being able to fill up the roster, we just gotta make sure we get Paul or Williams in 2012.

Another thing that's good about getting Chauncey is he's been there before and he really knows the game. You can't underestimate what thats gonna do for the development of our young player that are left mainly TD, Landry, and Moz. I still think were coming out on top, do I wish we could keep Gallo or Ray? Yeah of course but it's not like were getting a** raped, we're giving up 3 good starters for 1 good starter and 1 elite... not bad IMO

I'm a Gallo fan. I truly believe he can be a very good player but this is Carmelo Anthony. He is right there below Wade and Lebron. In my opinion he is more of a winner than Lebron is. Lebron defers to other players. He flexes his muscle but in actuality he is a sissy. Wade I believe is a killer on the court. And I view Carmelo in the same light. The guy knows how to win. He almost killed the lakers last year. And lets not forget he's 27.

The knicks are getting him right before his prime. A scoring, rebounding machine who knows how to play ball. You put him with D'Antoni and we're talking about a legit threat in the playoffs. Common guys I know building through the draft is ideal but if you have a chance to get a potential future hall of famer (something that Melo can become if he comes to NY) you take it. Its sad to see the youngins go, but think about all the times the youngsters never showed up. The loses to cleveland, clippers, and other scrub teams. I'd like to see consistency and with billups-fields-melo-stat-moz/turiaf your going to see that.

honestly... i think if gallo goes to denver i can see him just going back to europe, being a star, after his contract ends.

sure, he might not have accomplished "much" in the nba, but he proved he isnt soft and that he can hang with the best.

Can someone please post the proposed Gallo thread? I see everyone talking about it, but haven't seen actual deal/rumor.
