I think there's gonna be a lot of apologizing to do after we find out melo told dolan he would accept nets extension if we couldn't get it done

charles barkley said, why are the knicks giving up anything... they can just sign him in the offseason... finally he makes some sense... this , to me is a no brainer... but whatever... while everyone is purchasing houses on shorts ales, the knicks are paying 2006 prices... rofl...

At the end of the day, our team is better with this trade than it was before. We had hoped to get away with robbery and come away with a much better roster but instead we got a decent upgrade. From 1-10 I give this trade a 6 on our part.

How much better are we losing gallo, felton, and chandler and gaining billups and melo?

I love melo', but he is not going to all of a sudden make us a competitor. If we get him , it wont be 2011, we'll only be contenders once we sure up the back court in 2012.

And I still believe we could be just as good with the same team + back court help in 2012.

Asking why would NY give up anything at all. Melo says he wants to come to NY? Let the deadline pass and let him come as a free agent.

the latest trade proposed, meaning,

Felton, Gallinari, Chandler, Curry, Pick

for

Billups, Carmelo

is a very, very good deal for us, and i think at this point with all the pressure, Denver will find this reasonable.

i can see this as getting done this weekend

I'm excited about getting Melo, and I understand this is a business, but I feel that there's gonna be some bad ass karma coming our way. We kinda did Felton, Wil and Gallo dirty. From the big lights of the city to the Rocky Mountains. Damn. If the trade goes through I hope the fans at Pepsi embrace them.

This trade could still be killed. Denver's pattern is to move the goal posts.

On one thing said above by another poster, Stoudemire is not an elite post player really. He's a face up player and slasher.

yea... my first game was the knicks vs the sixers.... haha... anyway. melo is not old, he is 26, but my point, is the knicks just don't believe in developing their own, espeically if they are not a star in year 1.. like ewing was... but hey, I hope denver backs out... really I do..

KG & TKF I also started going to Knick games in the early 80's (41 yrs old) If the deal is what's been reported, than I can't be mad. MELO is a STUD fellas. As much as people feel we should wait til FA. Personally you can't take that risk.. IMO building around 2 STARS is easier than building around 1

Does anyone know where Billups stands? Will he still seek a buyout to return to Denver?

that he's tired of the talk and that he doesn't understand why the knicks would give up half their roster when they can just get him in the off season.

Exactly.

+2

Earlier today, I disagreed. But his dramatics today were unfortunate. It looked like he finally just broke down and started crying about all the "stress." You're a gajillionaire who plays basketball for a living. Grow a pair, buddy.

Give the Nets credit. They knew they had no shot at Carmelo, but they stepped up anyway in order to force Dolan into giving up the farm.

In my imagination, Donnie Walsh is pissed off that Dolan folded. It'll be interesting to see how Dolan responds if/when Denver moves back the goal posts.

he is right under any other year...but since the will be a new CBA and melo risks losing 50 million he isn't going into the offseason without a contract. That is a little selfish as knicks fans to think he or any nba player would leave that much money on the table

But I don't think that's what Melo told Dolan in their meeting.

Well if this trade goes through and Gallo blows up, I think you just live with that. Gallo is a good kid -- who could root against him? He has a lot of natural ability and if he taps into it, then somewhere you have to be very happy for him seriously.

It's not like he's done anything but been a good Knick. He's got a lot of NY fans. If he goes to Denver and surpasses Melo, we'll be crying in our soup. But he's a big talent and he could turn into a great basketball player.

There's always risks and there's a reason that Denver wants him. Imagine being the Wizards who traded Rasheed, Webber ... well they were the Bullets then. And both guys ended up great players. The one guy they kept, Howard, was a bust lol. And then they gave up Ben Wallace for nothing too.

That could happen to us too. Just life.

Barkley getting ready to put the anti Knick spin on the deal. Feels good. It must be close.

nobody is comparing melo to gallo, people are saying that there was no need to trade gallo.
