So we give up on Gallo to get Melo. I thought we had the "leverage" in these negotiations? On the other hand, this deal isn't finalized. Hopefully we can still keep Gallo.

Exactly.

He kept the Nets in the game to force our hand so he can get his money. I'm sorry but I don't know how anyone can support that. I am really sour about the way this played out.

This situation was unfathomable after the Nets pulled out. We got Ujiri'd.

Quite frankly its championship or Melo deserved to get slaughtered for this if he can't deliver.

Melo meeting with Billy about the Cba means he may either tell Knicks to save themselves and wait or option 2 trade with Knicks with the idea of leaving room for Chris Paul. Great sign. If it's NJ he's gonna take the max.

I keep hearing about our CAP Space. Do you really think Dolan gives 2 **** about the salary cap? 2 years ago we had the highest payroll in the league. Where did that get us?

I hate to give up gallo, but if we keep him we'll have to pay him next year and basically have our roster set for a while. If we give him up we might have enough cap space to create our own big 3, might be better off in long run giving him up

No.

which as it looks we couldn't

Im not one to get into this "hater" stuff. I think its childish. But I got a bag of good, that says they would not have praised the knicks had we told them to **** off.

Nobody knows because of the CBA. Assuming it will be harder to have 3 max contracts after new deal

Exactly. And honestly $2M per year would shock me because that's $10M that would be hard to justify. I think about $1M would be very possible so only $5M over 5 years. Somewhere between $1M and $2M per year maybe but closer to $1M in my opinion.

KG & TKF I also started going to Knick games in the early 80's (41 yrs old) If the deal is what's been reported, than I can't be mad. MELO is a STUD fellas. As much as people feel we should wait til FA. Personally you can't take that risk.. IMO building around 2 STARS is easier than building around 1

wow, good to hear that.. but hey, melo is a stud offensive player.. This is the kind of package I expect to see for a lebron...probably the only player in the league who can take any 20 win team and make them a 50 win team.... other than that, I say buyer beware with most NBA players and gutting your team for them....
