Seriously....How are people still this clueless?

Can I ask what players would you have signed instead of Melo?

keep chandler, gallo, and felton. go after nene, marc gasol, tyson chandler in that order. bring in another backup pg. go after cp3 or deron in 2012.sf was the least of our problems. now we have two "stars" who won't defend.

This is important because Spears is close to Melo's camp:

A source close to Anthony said the forward has never shown much, if any, interest privately in joining the Nets.

This hasbeen discussed ad-nauseum, an extended Melo, Amare, and cap holds take up 47 Million in salary. We will have traded all of our assets away. Now please tell me how you expect to sign another star?

Wouldn't you need to know the terms of the new CBA to answer that?

pretty much. Once this deal is completed, thats pretty much who we're going to war with for the next few years. We will have no assets to complete a trade for Deron/CP3. We will not have enough cash to sign them as FA's, unless they elect to sign for considerably less than what they're worth. I can't see us getting a top FA in 2012 after this deal.

Are you committed to us Melo? Because it seems you only care about Melo right now.

I'm sorry but your not making much sense here. Why can't he have his money and play for the Knicks? He shouldn't have to sacrifice a cent if the Knicks really want him what's the issue?

He could have his money anyway if he put the screws to Denver. Instead he chose to put the screws to us. F*ck him.

thats 35 minutes at SG that we can't replace!

thats not to difficult to understand

sure we can, I was told that chandler can play SG and that role players, like fields and gallo and chandler are easy to replace... so really, we can just go out and grab anyone to do what those guys do....

that is totally false, if someone is saying they are easy replaceable then they don't know basketball but if the reported deal is what goes through u have to pull the trigger. Chandler is not a 2 in that he can't guard 2's. Gallo value would drop on a melo team since he would have less shots and would be regulated to a corner 3 point shooter. I love gallo but at this point gallo has a carmelo game once or twice every 5th game. Melo has that point output every game

It is amazing that we arguably have a top 7 NBA player gift-wrap himself to a team & city that needs another impact player. And yet many people here are bent over the fact that he didn't do enough to become a Knick.

Sorry but Carmelo put himself way, way out there for the Knicks. He basically burned his boats in Denver and all but made himself untradeable to anyone but NY. Lebron didn't do that. Amare didn't do it. Wade didn't do it and neither did Kobe, Shaq or any other superstar in the past 25 odd years. Guys on the level of Carmelo are rare and if you have one present themselves to you on your doorstep you'd be wise to take them in.

Like most I would have loved to have had him for nothing but once the Nets came back in NY had to pony up.

One allstar starter since the 1992 (Knicks), and a team that's presently "1" game over 500. At least in my mind, there is nothing to talk about. Those who could remember, always wondered what Bernard King and Patrick Ewing would had looked like together. My friends, it's been since our last world championship team, that we have had two players this dynamic on the court together. People say, well the players we are trading are still young and have much potential but we are still a 500. team. Heck the Thunder are younger and look at their record. I will miss Gallo and Chandler more, but we are talking about freaking Carmelo Anthony. If anyone would had told me this time last year that the Knicks would have Amare and Melo on the court together, I would had signed up for it no matter who we had to give up. Think about this, Mozgov's development is everything now, and fields is a consistent jumpshot away from being major. Melo will take tremendous pressure off of both. Peace out!

Then why doesn't he just say no to the Nets. Eliminate any leverage Denver had.
