Well, with all due respect, I think what those people are saying is "Fields >>>> Gallo."

Which is laughable.

Is it?
Landry: 7.1 RPG (Leads ALL guards), .519 FG%, .399 3P%
Gallo: 4.8 RPG, .415 FG%, .347 3P%

unless that superstar is willing to take mid-level, we are bound to get chris duhon caliber guys for the foreseeable future. dolan killed the franchise again.
How do you figure that? Who other than A'mare and Melo would have long term, expensive deals? Nobody, not one player on our team would be cap killing other than those guys...if you do the math and assume the cap figure isn't drastically changed during the next CBA, we will absolutely have money to spend.
they both will make 20 million each. whatever you assume, you can't fit in another max there.
I never said anything about a max player...but there is only one team that has 3 max players and that was unprecedented. I think we are getting greedy...ok so we'll have Melo, A'mare, young talent and money to throw at a very good player. What's with this 3 max or bust bs? It's mind boggling that people are still complaining about possibly getting A'mare and Melo, yet ruining our chances at a 3rd max player...astonishing. Over Gallo and Chandler? Really???

I don't see your point here. Being willing to give up a lot doesn't mean there aren't limits. The Felton/Chandler/Gallo/1st for Melo/Billups package allows us to put a good lineup from top to bottom on the court, and lets us keep our very inexpensive rookie of the year candidate. It's arguably an acceptable sacrifice to get Melo. If you replace Chandler with Fields it's no longer acceptable because Chandler can't handle the SG position the way Fields can, is older, and is going to make significantly more money next year. Even if it ended up being a wash on the court, Fields has much more value than Chandler does right now.

How has no one noticed that TKF is satirizing all of you yet?

But part of the satire is the notion that it's silly to see a substantive difference between including Chandler and including Fields. If you agree that there's a substantive difference, this line of mockery don't make sense.

Should we really have expected anything different from a guy who in reference to not signing the shorter deal like lbj bosh and wade: "Where I'm from they don't leave money on the table"? Or the guy who threw a cheap shot and ran like a coward in the garden? Seems right in line with his character.

Well at least we acquire a true leader who has shown he can lead a team deep into playoffs. Mr. Big Shot.

He choose security and a sure thing can't blame him for that. Why should he take a chance on the Nuggets calling his bluff and keeping him the whole season? He's a multi time allstar and he deserves to be compensated as such. Potentially allowing himself to lose money seems like too much so I find nothing wrong with him establishing and forcing the issue getting what he wants. Does it suck that we lose some players yeah sure but we'd lose some regardless so no real sweat off my back.

It's no sweat off your back because you aren't thinking longterm. Melo screwed his future team's competetive chances just to get his. He made himself bigger than NYK. For that, f*ck him. If he put himself out there this much, he should have done it all the way and made sure he had the strongest team possible to come to.

Also the notion that we need the assets to get Paul or whatever is weird. I find it hard to believe we'd be able to trade for CP3,Deron, or Dwight with just Fields,Gallo, and Billups.
People who think we are getting a third MAX are clueless

"I love gallo but at this point gallo has a carmelo game once or twice every 5th game. Melo has that
point output every game"

yeah, but on how many shots.

What scares me is what Gallo can become with a coach who will use his talents correctly for the betterment of the team vs a coach that uses the team's style to fit the player.

I wonder how long it will take for the animosity to be unleashed upon Melo if this deal does in fact go down with Gallo and Fields in it..... I give it till the first 3 game losing streak. That is for the people who don't have it from the get go.

I can almost guarantee if Walsh steps in and says enough is enough, takes the deal off the table, the basketball gods will grant us a miracle.

Problem with Fields means you have issues with the SG position. I guess you bring Chandler over there and start him, but then you need to have Chandler reupped, weakening the caps situation to address the PG position you now have to also address because Felton is gone.
