Carmelo Anthony says the opportunity to win an NBA title is more important to him than money.

That is why Anthony has held off on signing a three-year, $65 million extension, which the Nuggets offered him last summer.

On Saturday, Anthony said he will only sign an extension with a team that gives him a chance to win a championship.

"I'm going into my ninth season. I have no time to waste right now," Anthony said. "I want to see the light at the end of the tunnel in my future. That light is a championship."

He later reiterated that no contract extension will be about the money.

"At first, a lot of people were saying it's a money situation. It has nothing to do with no type of money," Anthony said. "I don't care about the money. My ultimate at the end of the day is to win and win a championship. Whether I feel like I can do that here, whether I feel like I need to go somewhere else and do it, that's my own ultimate decision.

"You have to have a decision what's best for you and best for your career. Right now, whatever decision I make is going to be the best decision for me."

That is why people are pissed right now. Not Gallo.

Melo is a fraud. If what he said above was true, he would have grown a pair, and put the screws to Denver. That would be the way to ensure he is coming to a true contender.

Happy to say I was in the 'Chandler crew' - these Gallo lovers are embarrassing, seriously.

This is basketball, not twilight. There are no "Team Chandler" or "Team Gallo"s

If we were trading Gallo straight up for Melo I think every single poster on this board would be carrying him to Denver.

I highly doubt that.

I'm one of the biggest Gallo defenders on this board, I think the kid has a special skillset. I think he's more versatile than Melo But Melo is obviously the better player and it's not close. Good luck finding someone on this board who disagrees with that.

I don't like Melo, but yes the team is better if you replace Gallo with him straight up. That's not how it works though.

Can someone please give me an update?

The Knicks made an offer of Gallo, Chandler, Felton and a 1st for Melo and Billups.

All the Gallo fans became very upset.

Frank Isola said the Nuggets countered to flip Chandler for Fields.

Now everybody is upset.

I think both of you are misinterpreting what most of this discussion is about.

I guarantee half of the people wouldn't be nearly as panicked if it were Fields in the deal instead of Gallo....It ain't about giving up too much, because any bball person would know the skill we'd be getting is worth it... it's about people not wanting to see their home grown boy Gallo leave, especially if it could have been done with out him... it's exactly as we say it is.

I'm a big Gallo fan, and my position is basically, we should make sure we keep Mozgov and one of Fields or Gallo. I'd be pleased to keep Fields because of his poise and the fact that I think he'd fit in well, and I'd be pleased to keep Gallo because I think he has huge potential etc. I would NOT include both Fields and Gallo.

Look, Fields and Mozgov have as much potential as anyone we are letting go. If they pan out(especially Mozgov), this team will be a point guard away from being filthy. Please remember that Billups still has game. Melo will take much pressure off of the rookies and his shoulders are definitely big enough. We still have Douglas, Walker, Ronnie and Williams on the bench. Plus who ever else Denver sends over. This team is not nearly as "GUTTED" as some claim it will be. We still have plenty of youth and 2 players that are at the pentacle of their positions. The Sun will rise tomorrow and I'll take my chances with Melo, gladly.
