The Knicks have offered Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Eddy Curry’s expiring contract and a No. 1 pick they still need to acquire for Anthony and Chauncey Billups. It’s a proposal the Nuggets are seriously considering, a Knicks source said.

Knicks have increased their offer.

I would laugh if EVERY other team in the NBA refused to trade any firsts to NY just to make sure the deal doesn't go down.

IDIOTS..

I'd be happy to come out of deal with Chandler/Fields/Felton and 4 firsts for Melo/Billups....the backcourt would be set[/quote]

They don't need another guard with Afflalo/Lawson/Felton, they're better off with Chandler and Gallo at the 3/4.

That might be true if Denver didn't distinguish between point guards and shooting guards, or between swingmen and power forwards. D'Antoni and possibly Don Nelson teams are about the only ones who don't make such distinctions.

Both Gallo and Chandler are more of a true three than a two and a four but anyways this won't rest until the deadline than hell broke loose in the summer.

I'm sure it's been said before, but at what point did Billups become a throw in? I find it flummoxing that Denver isn't pushing hard for the package to be Anthony, Harrington and Anderson or Balkman instead. Billups has value in the market, doesn't he?.

I completely agree. To me, Billups is miles better than Felton over the next two years. Denver probably likes Felton's contact better and maybe has already done the work that there isn't a great deal out there. Most contenders (let's say top five in each conference) don't need a starting point guard and those who do (Lakers, Heat, Hawks) either don't want to take on the money or don't have the assets. It's a really fluky situation where its almost like the Knicks are having Billups forced on them.

Maybe this makes me a faint hearted pussy, but this deal would make the Knicks a really scary first round matchup for the Bulls. I'd almost rather play the Hawks.

I'm not too worried about the Knicks. They'll be slightly better, but they are giving up a ton of young players to get Carmelo. Carmelo, Amar'e, Ancient Billups can win some games for sure, but they won't be able to beat us or Miami or the Celtics. And by the time they get around to signing CP3 or Deron, Amare will be on the decline at age 30.

Why's that? Afraid Derrick will hurt himself due to how fast he's blowing by the NY "defense?"

So hilarious, Felton was actually decent this year, I can't believe the Knicks are going to gut their roster for this overrated loser. Hillarious people consider Melo a superstar. Laughable.

I wouldn't worry too much about a first round matchup with the Knicks. First of all, I don't think it would happen. The way we've been playing there's a pretty good chance we're going to leapfrog Boston and/or Miami for a top two seed. Secondly, if a Melo trade goes down, even if Billups is included in the deal you're talking about a team that's lost a lot of its scoring production.

A large part of New York's success has been due to athleticism and the growth of solid role players in guys like Gallinari and Chandler. This deal would deplete the Knicks of a lot of depth. And while it would absolutely make their starting lineup loads better, come playoff time their second unit is going to struggle mightily. That's something they can solve this offseason, but it would be a glaring hole for this postseason.

I would rather have the knicks get Melo instead of paul/deron. An elite point guard in D'Antoni system is going to be sick. So get it done already.

Not to mention Amare, Carmelo, Billups (at this age) is an atrocious defensive combo. Fields helps out there, plus they have no rebounding.

Defensively, physically, the Knicks can't compete with us or the Celtics front line.

Deng, Taj, Gibson, Boozer, Noah, Asik v. Amare, Carmelo, Turiaf, Mozgev, Shawne Williams

or

Pierce, Garnett, Davis, Perkins, Shaq v. Amare, Carmelo, Turiaf, Mozgev, Shawne Williams

I'm pretty sure Fields can and does play SF and SG, Gallo plays SF.

I think I would take Fields like Jordan45822 to be honest.
