All Star Weekend Discussion

Post#1 » by slick_watts » Fri Feb 18, 2011 11:58 pm

Thunder have a bunch of representative this weekend. Tonight Serge Ibaka and James Harden will be teammates in the Rookie Challenge, and Saturday night we'll have Ibaka, Kevin Durant, and Russell Westbrook as part of the Dunk Contest, 3PT Shootout and Skills Challenge.

Sunday, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook will be in the All Star game.

Should be a fun weekend for us. I think all of our participants in the individual contests are underdogs.

I'm sure Presti is kicking himself for not taking Blair. An Ibaka/Blair pf combo would be lethal.

I think they would be really good paired together in the frontcourt too.

Awesome first night of the weekend for the thunder. Harden was the best sophomore out there and Ibaka had a damn good night as well. Harden had a SICK SICK SICK windmill dunk and showed off some RIDICULOUS athleticism. Ibaka was also 2/2 from three

Harden: 30 pts, 11-18 shooting, 4-9 from 3
Ibaka: 14 pts, 5 rebs, 2 blks, 6-10 shooting, 2-2 from 3

Things we learned; Harden is a secret athletic monster and should be in the dunk contest and Ibaka is a better three point shooter than Jeff Green.

Bonus thing we learned; Ibaka can now do everything better than Jeff Green, WE DON'T NEED HIM ANYMORE. KTHXBYE

This show me two things clearly that I already know: Ibaka and Harden are way superior than DeRozan, Mathews and Taj Gibson.

I hope people stop talking **** of Harden, he is great.

Harden was an absolute beast in this game. That windmill he had on the fast break demonstrated his crazy athletic ability. Not only did he get up there, but he threw it down with power. Very fun first day of the all star weekend.

Harden and Serge should be our full time starter. All we need to do is to trade Jeff Green for a good centre.

IBaka's dunk was amazing. A perfect free-throw line dunk.

That said though, Griffin just did something I've never seen before. That deserved a 50.

Ibaka was absolutely robbed on both of those. Dr. J's and Michael's "free throw line dunks" were at least one step closer, and they're always talked about as the greatest dunks of all time.

So, how is it that Ibaka's much more difficult dunk can't even get a 50?

Ibaka had the best free throw dunk in the history of the NBA, and Griffin just had a plain windmill dunk

Ibaka in last place, griffin in second

Totally no bias there

Ibaka and Derozan definately robbed. Although McGee deserves it.

I'm 5'10", 170, and I'm pretty sure I can clear the HOOD of a KIA. From behind the free throw line, well, that's another story.

The dunk contest was a KIA commercial. Ibaka did a lot better than I thought he would.

I hope that once the dust settles from tonight, that Serge's dunk get's the recognition it deserves. We all witnessed history tonight, but everyone's going on like it didn't even happen...

What would have happened if Griffin couldn't advance to the final and that Kia commercial was ruined...? This was like when in 2009 the final was Superman vs Kryptonite, a different finalist would have ruined the show.

Sorry Ibaka, it seems a FT line dunk now only deserves a 46 for the NBA.
