Nene has always been one of my favorite non Magic non Gator players. I think he would be a great fit backing up Dwight and would be our starting PF. I think he'd complement Dwight very well and just having him would make our defense improve big time. If we could lose Bass instead of Anderson I'd probably be for a similar trade to land Nene. We'd obviously have to take something bad back and Harrington is at least somewhat productive and would give us some offense off the bench. (that contract is beyond rough though). I'm 50-50 on this trade, but I'd be all for trying to get Nene without having to take Harrington.

If quite a few people were on the Zach Randolph bandwagon, why aren't as many people on the Nene bandwagon, he at least plays defense and isn't considered a cancer.

From what I have seen, if the Nuggets traded Nene now, they will be without a center. Thus, they really need to keep him. Especially, if they make the trade with the Knicks. He will be getting many more touches then.

You do realize that by trading Melo, winning is no longer a concern? They won't NEED Nene by any means at all. He is next in line in terms of how much money he makes and he is not an expiring contract so they will want to unload him for young talent and more picks.

Our biggest problem when trying to trade with Denver or anyone is the lack of picks. We have some very solid players to move but no picks to entice a rebuilding team.

Also, in order to get them to bite we would probably need to take back either Al Harrington or Chris Anderson...Al Harrington being the better fit, by far.

So, because a team goes on the rebuilding mode, they should trade their only True Center just doesn't make sense. Especially, since they still could make the playoffs this year without Melo as they have a good record. Regardless, when Nene keeps his player option this off season due to the CBA, his expiring will be in much more demand next season. Denver stands pat here unless it is for a deal they cannot refuse.

Besides, there is no way Orlando can come up with the players to trade for his $11 million deal unless they get Denver to bite on a Duhon/JRich for Nene/Jr Smith deal. Doubt that would happen.

We could actually make a very solid offer as I stated in my original post about Nene...most people hated the idea of it.

If they trade Nene, it is because they don't want to pay him the money. That would make J-Rich attractive beyond the fact that he is a solid player. We combine him with Ryan Anderson/Brandon Bass and they would have to consider it.

Why would anyone think a trade with 25 games left in the season is going to do anything for this team at this point? I don't see Otis making that move unless it's for an elite player. The most realistic option I see is Murphy IF he's bought out. We are going the rest of the way and into the PO's with this current group.

Otis made these trades early in the season for a good reason, so the team can gel by the time the PO's roll around. Unless it's an elite player, Another trade would do nothing but set this team back. Otis will maybe land a 3rd string center but I wouldn't be surprised if he rolls with Malik

The people suggesting a trade are probably thinking like me...thinking that this team is not built for the playoffs, to beat Boston, or win the NBA title.

IMO, it has nothing to do with chemistry at this point, it is because we lack depth in the right areas. If we want to stand with what we have going through the deadline, we need to pray that Arenas some how gets his knees back and that Earl Clark can learn how to play C in the NBA really fast - neither of which I see being a reliable option.

Scola is a pipe dream. Do you imagine him and Dwight being our frontcourt?
I see him as a perfect complement to Dwight, but I really don't see Houston trading Luis, he's too good. He's one of the few players I would trade for Richardson.

Jackson? Vince Carter with better D, but poorer shot selection. I'll pass.

i'd happily swap Duhon and Qrich for SJax. you reckon they'd take it?

or SJax + Diaw for Arenas?

I'd do either one.

No chance in hell they take it, though.

This are just minor moves:

I want to cut Malik Allen this guy is awful, I want to give a 10 day contract to Marcus Cousin or
Sean Williams from the D-League.

Don`t want to resign Jason Richardson,he is simply a jump shooter.Ryan Thompson(UNDRAFTED) or
Reggie Williams(Warriors)can do the same.

Jason Kidd is a free agent next year, yes he is old but this guy can still play at a high level.
Smart / Micic / D. Wright
Wiggins / Exum / J. Adams
Parker / K. Anderson / Mcdermott
Randle / Vonleh / Stokes
Embiid / Nurkic/ Tavares

2. Orlando Magic
Needs: Backup big man.

Deal to be made: Orlando sends PG Chris Duhon, C Daniel Orton, F Earl Clark and F Malik Allen to Portland for C Joel Przybilla.

Outlook: It’s become clear that the Magic can’t get by without adding a reserve center along the lines of Marcin Gortat, who was traded to Phoenix in the Hedo Turkoglu-Jason Richardson deal. They need protection for Dwight Howard.

Przybilla figures to be a sought-after asset, because he defends and rebounds, and the Blazers will be willing to part with him now that Marcus Camby is close to a return. The Magic should make a strong push for him.

Duhon would give the Blazers an upgrade at reserve point guard and help buffer the team against Andre Miller’s free agency. Allen is a throwaway, but Orton and Clark are young and could be packaged in other deals. Clark, who also was part of the Turkoglu trade, couldn't be included in this deal until Feb. 18.

Return to Orlando Magic
