that dunk contest was very entertaining but also exposed a lot of flaws with the system. a few years ago it was too boring, nobody had any creativity and guys were just rehashing old dunks. the creativity has been back the past few years but the gimmicks are getting a bit much. somewhere in the middle is a nice spot.

here's my dunk contest wish list

6 contestants - 3 dunks per
no rounds, each contestant gets 3 dunks.
highest cumulative total wins
give the judges some standards
- a missed dunk attempt automatically results in .5pt deduction. you should not be able to get a 50 on a dunk that took 4 attempts. 47.5 should be max in that case.
- let judges grade on decimal scale.
- let judges use replay before submitting scores
- get 7 judges and throw out highest and lowest score

Stevie Wonder is sitting courtside 3 seats away from Donald Sterling. You couldn't make this stuff up.

Kobe saying pre-game he'll just be taking jump shots because he just doesn't have the legs any more to attack the lane.

Ummmmmmm, the legs are looking pretty good Kobe!!

Bosh 6-6 and Gasol 6-6.

Those two defensive juggernauts must have been guarding each other.

gotta give the dance team time to put their clothes back on and leave the locker room in time to rev the crowd back up for the 2nd half.

Discussed this with the boys right after the disappointing finals and we were all in agreement. If you take all of the athletic freaks in the NBA that can dunk and dwindle the number down to 4-6, you've already got a dunk contest finals, no need to have a 1 vs 1 final dunk off, just let em all go for 3 dunks. That way you get rid of guys saving their best dunks for the finals but getting robbed and never seeing it or what happened for McGee this year where his final dunk was anticlimactic after such original dunks to get there.
