I'm on the D. Williams bandwagon. Anyone see that game last night? There was 2.2 seconds left, Washington ball. Williams blocks a shot and the ball literally goes into the 5th row.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

Terrence Jones looks a lot like Gerald Wallace to me. He pursues the ball and gets a ton of blocks, steals, and rebounds. Much like Wallace, when the game gets a little fast, Jones ends up making most of the plays. Also, he's playing in the post primarily right now (he played the 5 most of the recent game vs. South Carolina), so he doesn't get many opportunities to get comfortable at the 3pt line and spot up. In games where he shoots at least 4 3's, he's 14-27. His shot doesnt look good, but he can hit jumpers if he's left open. Jones may not be able to blow by defenders at the next level, but he has that Pierce like ability to finish at the rim, so I think he'll be fine. He's playing way out of position right now as a 4-5 man, but he's still putting up monster numbers as a freshman.

I wouldn't be totally shocked if TJones' frosh teammate Brandon Knight sneaks ahead of Jones. The last 2 games, he's put up numbers showing maybe he's learning what a PG does - totalling 16 assist vs. 5 to's. And Knight can flat out shoot - mid-range and long. His next thing to develop is finishing his drives and taking contact.

Brandon Knight has amazing potential, however, he's a jamal crawford/jason terry type small scoring guard. For that reason, I can't see him being taken over the top 6-7 prospects, including Terrence Jones. If he comes out this year, I think he's more likely to go between 15-25 which would be great value for whoever gets him. I think he's a much better prospect than Avery Bradley, who was taken around then (18th?) last season, which is just another reason why I dont understand all the hate for this draft. The draft in general has plenty of good prospects throughout.

here's the vid Raf was talking about. The only play more exciting to seal a game might be to dunk on somebody as time expires... and you could argue for something else... but this has to be up there.

I think him reading my post inspired him to do that.
It's especially cool that that was a defensive Wow moment.

Derrick Williams is going to be a dominant NBA player.
There are many impact players in this draft.

Norris Cole reminds me of Juan Dixon, but he's better. He also reminds me of Seth Curry. Cole's a far better defender than Seth. But he's slighter by 10-15 pounds and he's an inch or two shorter.
Cole is a very impressive player. He handles better than Wall and has great court awareness and defensive instincts.
Very smart kid--I am starting to like him more than Nolan Smith.
Cole and Jenkins could be better than Fredette or Smith.

He sure would, if he only had to play offense.
I do think he's capable of putting up some very nice numbers. May even put up something like 20+ ppg and 8+ rebounds. But how much will that help his team win if he defends the paint like Antawn Jamison?
If Derrick Williams is going to be a SF in the NBA then I'd probably have a different take on him.
I'm just not sure a team can have any level of playoff success if they have a defensive sieve starting on their front line.

Dat2U. Who do you like between Sullinger, Kanter and Williams? I'm assuming Irving, P.Jones and Valanciunus are off the table when we draft.

Dude just made maybe THE defensive play of the year, and you're assuming he'll be a defensive sieve? I wouldn't make an assumption either way about his D. He's just about 6'9 240 with long reach, so he's only slightly under-sized for PF.

You guys - as well as most analysts, btw - are really over-valuing P. Jones. Unless he comes on a lot stronger in March, he's not going to be a top 3 pick.

Your totally right my bad. I forgot that Jamison never blocked a shot or got a steal, especially in college.
WTF was I thinking about?
Williams could be 6-9 240 (which I question) but his post defense has long been in question.

Probably Sullinger. He seems the safest pick of the three and I think he'll be at least an above average rebounder at the PF position. But I'd seriously be open to a trade. Heck even if P. Jones was the pick, I'd still be open to a trade. It's not like I'm totally sold on P. Jones either, I think there's just no question that Perry is the only college player with the physical tools to truly create match up problems on the next level. Of course whether he is successful at the next level is completely debatable.
Right now for me its:
1. PF Perry Jones
2. CE Jonas Valanciunas
3. PF Jared Sullinger
4. PF Derrick Williams
5. CE Enes Kanter

I'm confused. What does Jamison have to do with Williams?

Maybe you could read the first post in the string and figure it out. I'm sure your smart enough to do that.

Um... you just followed that post saying you want Sullinger - who's known for being a poor post defender.

Ugh, I give up. I responded to a scenario that Nate gave. If you want to play dumb, fine, but I'm not playing that game.

I'm not sure what I said that got you irritated with me.
Fwiw, if you're trying to make the point that Williams defense is somehow the same as Jamison's, I don't know where you got that from. This is what DraftExpress says about his defense:
Defensively, Williams puts in a better effort than you typically see from a collegiate go-to guy. He does a good job of staying in front of opponents and shows strong fundamentals, as you would expect from a Sean Miller-coached player. He's usually in an attentive stance both on and off the ball and uses his length well to bother his matchup, even if he lacks the physical tools to be overly productive in terms of getting his team extra possessions. The aggressiveness he brings on this end will lead to some foul trouble on occasion, though, which is something that has limited his minutes at times this season.
