HAHAHA I TOLD YOU GUYS MELO ISN"T GONNA BE A LAKER. Lakers didn't want it, nuggets didn't want it, melo didn't want it. Those rumors were seriously ANNOYING. Now everyone can SHUT UP about all that crap and we can focus on laker ball. This is the greatest day of my life

Doesn't make them better than Boston or Heat. Good for them though, you gotta give people something when you charge them ticket prices that high.

New York Knicks:

Out:

Eddy Curry
Danilo Gallinari
Wilson Chandler
Raymond Felton
Anthony Randolph
Timofey Mozgov

In:

Carmelo Anthony
Chauncey Billups
Corey Brewer
Shelden Williams
Renaldo Balkman
Anthony Carter

New York Knicks new lineup:

PG Chauncey Billups
SG Landry Fields
SF Carmelo Anthony
PF Amare Stoudemire
C Ronny Turiaf

6th man: Corey Brewer

So what defense the Knicks lost in trading away Wilson Chandler, they gained right back by trading Anthony Randolph for Corey Brewer. I still think Billups is a baller, and I definitely feel he's a name that's been under the radar due to his teammate Carmelo Anthony being the centerpiece. The new Knicks are going to be an offensive juggernaut and are going to bring alot of excitement back to the Garden--which is good for the NBA.

It's definitely a playoff team, but I wouldn't go as far as a title contender yet. Melo and Stoudemire are stars, but they don't play much defense, if any at all.

I'd still rank Miami, Boston, Chicago, Orlando, and maybe Atlanta, as better teams than the new Knicks.

lets trade a bunch of offensive players who cant play defense for 1 great offensive player who cant play defense, and gut our entire bench in the process.

They'll make the playoffs, but they arent winning ****.

good enough to be the 3rd best team in the east and top 6 teams in the nba

celtics, lakers, heat, spurs, magic, mavs and knicks would probably round out the best in the nba

I like the move. They're lacking depth badly after gutting the roster but management and their fans can now be confident in themselves for obtaining two top tier veteran talents.

I was hesitant to say it before, but the Knicks are definitely back. They'll be a thorn in the East for years to come. Its just a matter of bringing in the free agents. These guys are thinking long term.

Wish we could somehow swing a trade for Corey Brewer.

Aside from that, New York obviously improves. Carmelo/Billups/Stoudemire make for a pretty good trio but they are very thin up front. It's going to take them a year or two to be really in the mix as far as a Championship, because they need more depth.

Brewer, Douglas, Turiaf are the start of good role players, but those guys can't be in your top 6 or 7 if you want to win a Championship.

this probably puts them close to the level #5 seed atlanta, basically shrinking the huge gap there was from #5 to #6.

I also feel like Chris Broussard makes up or steals everything he hears. Maybe Worldwide Wes feeds him bull **** to get on ESPN, but generally I think he is the only one that touches ESPN reporters anymore.

i like the trade for them. it brings a legit superstar in melo, and a great 3pt shooter/closer in billups. pg depth is okay with toney d there. the 2/3 is good with brewer, melo, fields. 4/5 is thin but not horrible with amare, ronny, shawne williams. looks like the knicks will pick up earl barron who was putting up dbl dbls towards the end of last season.

i think they are fully capable of winning the chip this season. they have enough talent, and at the end of games, its gonna be tough to stop 3 great offensive options.
As far as defense goes, i think melo's defense is severely underrated. he has the tools and has shown that he can be a lockdown defender. billups is older but he can hold it down. i think defense is all about the team meshing together, talking and helping, buying into it together. now thats hard with d'antoni running but the team getting excited about their potential could motivate them to play some good D.

the knicks become another intriguing/entertaining team and im excited to see them in action!

No way. Even with the Knicks trade the Bulls are still ahead of the Knicks. They still need Noah to get back and hes going to have a nice impact on their D once hes back.
