Weisbrod, Otis, & Twardzik all tried to trade down (in 05') to aquire Deron Williams. Yeah, that's the year we drafted ol' "Fran I Ran".

If not a deal like the one above Utah will be in the same boat Denver was just in and I think any team would want ot avoid that at al costs. Cut your losses before you literally go bankrupt.

So, how about this one.

--Orlando/Utah swap--

Incoming (Orl)

PG-Deron Williams + PF/C Mehmet Okur

then..

Incoming (Utah)

PG-Jameer Nelson + SG/SF Jason Richardson (maybe even Fran's rights if we "must" to broker a deal)

We get our leader, he's happy, Dwight's happy. Utah doesn't leave high and dry, as many speculate he'll be gone come 2012. Like Wade flirting with the idea of leaving Miami, he actually ended up recruiting LeBron & Bosh. Maybe Dwight can get this in Deron's head.

Anyhow, AK is a FA so who knows what Utah does with him and J-Rich is too. They can save or stack up which gives them options. Plus, Fran if need be (I think he'll be here 2011, could care less what you think).

Again, Deron is an upgrade in every statistical way than Jameer, he's broad, can run the half court and run. Okur is that BIG who can spread the floor with Ryan and also spell Dwight when in foul trouble. Utah has to do something, why not this? :D

did you not just see what it cost NY for Melo? And you think we could get D-Will for Nelson+J-Rich?

Anyway to send J Rich to the Nuggets and get back Afflalo or Wilson Chandler..and bring another big with him.. Birdman??

why would Denver give up youth and good players for a much older JRich?

Because they want to help us out...
They get J Richs expiring, meaning they can resign Chandler.. i realize J Rich makes more than both, a lot more, so it probably doesnt work.. but its just a thought..

they just shaved $18 mil off their cap. They have the money to resign Chandler if they want. And Denver loves Afflalo, he is a defensive stud that is developing a good offensive game.

but where is their incentive? a 30 yr old Richardson? vs 23 and 26 yr old players, 1 on a very nice contract. Im all for getting players for our team, but you have to be realistic. There is no reason for them to make that trade.

To get even farther under the cap.. and with them trying to resign Nene, that frees up more money..

They can resign Nene for a MAX contract if want to.

If they wanted an expiring contract they would just take Eddy Curry's.

so heres a crazy scenario that i just thought up. no i'm not saying it will work

so we know cp3 and dwill both want ny in summer of 2012 and only one of them will get there and the other has to look elsewhere.

it was reported a month ago that cleveland is willing to take on bad contracts for some draft picks.

so my suggestion is we find a way to gather up some 1st rounders and 2 2nd rounders from now until the trade deadline next year and swap arenas, picks, cash for an expiring of theirs. then we would be able to free up some cap space and go after one of the point guards who don't make the knicks roster in a sign and trade with their respective teams.

its impossible because otis is a bone head but thoughts?

i dont believe we have the assets to get many 1st rounders. And the biggest expiring they have next year is Jamison, which is quite hefty at $15mil. They also do have the TPE which could free up space. I just think, with Gil playing the way he is, no one is going to touch his contract.

@SamAmicoFSO
Three NBA front office types say Cavs have big deal in place for trade exception. None, however, would be more specific.

JRich + Orton for Stephen Jackson + Nazr Mohammed

Substitute Gerald Wallace if you wish, I'd rather have Jacksons offensive firepower.

jackson is another scorer by volume. If the choice is there, it is obvious to take Wallace. We need some kind of perimeter defender.

I'm pretty sure that if Philly gives any sign at all of wanting to trade Iggy, Otis will make a call and try to get him .. Iggy might not be a superstar, but he's the closest to a superstar we can realistically acquire

Iggy has been on Orlando's "radar" all season long, but they haven't made Iggy available ..

Per @SpearsNBAYahoo, Portland "expected" to trade Marcus Camby. Don't think the Magic have the assets, but I imagine they're interested.

Didn't Camby say he would retire if traded? Don't know why. He has a better shot at a ring here than in Portland.
