Wake up!!! Brooke Lopez has to go!

Post#1 » by nycefnl » Tue Feb 22, 2011 9:52 pm

The way some Net fans talk you would think Brooke Lopez is the second coming of Tim Duncan, or Shaquille O'Neal. The guy has never dominated a game. His best games always results in the Nets losing....Doesn't that tell Billy King and Net fans something??? Doesn't it tell Net fans something when no free agent in the league wants to play with who Net fans think is an All-Star caliber center? You think if the Orlando Magic had flexibility that every single free agent with game would pass up going there? i cringe when i watch Brooke Lopez play. If the guy was any good the Nets would at least be somewhat close to .500. The center position is arguably the most impact position in basketball. Yet, the "best player" on a team never has an impact on the team that results in wins.

Lopez has never played well against other good bigs like Duncan, Dwight, Gasol etc... If the Net's front office has any sense they'll never use the word "untouchable" and Brooke Lopez in the same sentence. No one on such a bad team should be untouchable.

Here are some players who you can potentially acquire for Brooke. In my preferential order.

1. Eric Bledsoe & DeAndre Jordan
2. OJ Mayo & Marc Gasol
2. James Harding & Jeff Green
3. Stephen Curry & Dorell Wright

You can possibly make one of those trades happen...trading one talent for two talents is good GMing.

Keep all the draft picks and take it slow. Stack up on young good players.

That got me thinking, what if management wanted to go in a different direction and trade brook. What if we did something like brook and outlaw for deandre Jordan, bledsoe the Minnesota pick or something like that. Idk I'm just bored and in class now. I don't really wanna trade brook that just got me thinking,

I would trade Brook also if I'm the Nets. He's not helping them win, and he's due a big extension this off season.

We've all seen Brooke get dominated by Dwight and recently by Bogut...c'mon....We can't even win 1/3 of our games and we're sitting around with a front-line of Brooke, Favors, and Outlaw.

Again, no he's not, he's due for an extension next off-season. Plus, I love how you say he should be traded because he's not good, and then say that he's due for a "big" extension. If he sucks as much as you think, then he won't get a big extension and the market will decide how much he gets paid. Will people overpay for him? Perhaps.

so the FG% goes down when callls don get made.
i would def trade Brook for mayo and gasol, but where have u heard that thats even available??

and if ya think bout it we could prb get Mayo for a LOT less right now via trade either be 4 trade deadline or in offseaon and we could get Gasol via free agency this year. even though we MIGHT have to overpay. i would love to see GASOL/LOPEZ be our new version of the twin towers.

but seriously i love Brook even though hes one of the most frustrating players to watch sometimes. but Come on hes still 22 years old and 7 feet tall and he IS avg 19.4 ppg and HES NEVER BEEN HURT. i know the rebounding is bad and so is the fg% but there are defenses for both.

for the rebounding part. he plays beside Kris Humphries and Derrick Favors both of whom pride themselves on rebounding and hustling. so Brook takes it a lil easy when it comes to rebounding cuz he knows both of them will handle it. and he also is always looking to run the floor so his rebounding take a back seat because he wants to run the floor so badly.

as for the FG% Brook forces ALOT of shots mainly because he doesnt have talent around him that can create shots for themselves besides Harris. so he gets double teamed constantly and his teammates dont do a good job of bailing him out. and he also gets a lack of foul calls since he plays for the Nets
Playoffs this year, Championship in 5 years.

Dude, okay already... obviously you don't understand Brook with an "e" suggests his feminine-like soft game.

I thought you'd at least get it the second time around but most likely the GED exam didn't prepare you to get stuff like that.

So by your logic, James "Harding" means James Harden gives you a boner?

Lopez may not be the best rebounder, and that is what the Nets prepared for when they acquired Murphy & Favors. Centers don't always have to average double-digit rebounds you know.

Lopez needs a rugged blue-collar PF next to him, then he'll be able to concentrate on playing to his strengths. He is a rare franchise center that you gotta build around. Losing him could set the Nets back yet again.

So you would trade Favors then? I'm not seeing a plan from anyone. The next CBA will make it hard for players to move around. And do we trust King to draft well? Also, this process will take several years then...All those billboards and talk are then for nothing.
