Small bit of confusion over the bolded part. My impression was that the 77-78 million was meant to represent the approximate cost of leaving Sac, not the amount promised by Anaheim. I thought he said quite clearly that he didn't know the exact dollar amount the loan would be.

I did my best to listen & type a lot of information was flowing, so I could have missed some key points. However, I'm pretty sure he said he did not know the exact amount, as reports have refuted the 100 million loan as being accurate. He continued to say that doesn't mean it couldn't be 112 million; but he was hearing that the loan offered was closer to 77-78 million. That's what I got out of it anyways...you could be right, though.

It's really only a countdown to see if they'll be here next season or not. Even if they don't file this year, I'm not really optimistic that this latest arena proposal will ever come to fruition which means that even if they aren't gone this year, odds are they'll probably be gone in the next few years.

KJ just held a press conference but I missed the damn thing. Reading cliff notes one thing stands out, according to KJ the Maloof's are scheduled to meet with arena developers in the next week. I'm going to see if I can find/post a link to a video of the conference.

I really, REALLY wish I could go, but Mondays are my busiest days and I have multiple NIGHT meetings and an hour/half drive there and back in just impossible for me.

Kills me not to be there, but I donated yesterday's salary to the Boys&Girls club ticket drive, talked my parents into taking my cousins to the game, and I'll be listening on the radio whenever I can, hoping to hear chants.

Please, Kings fans, I implore you, if you can go, go. Go for the fans who can't be there. Go for the fans who will be there in 15 years when this team is still here. Go for the future Sacramento fans. Bleed freaking purple till they wrentch this team from our hands. Go and make noise, be loud, be proud.

My gut says this is a scare tactic, and it's working. But Go and make noise, be loud, be proud. Remind this league where the best fanbase in sports is.

I'm from Fresno and I think you are under estimating the Save Mart Center. A few years back when the Lakers played the Kings in an exhibition match both teams raved about the arena. Also check some facts about the arena it's one of the top grossing arena's in not only the USA, but the world. The capacity is about 17,000 seats with several box suites. The arena is no slouch and is certainly better than Arco by far. It is also better than the Honda center that they are rumored to be moving to. We don't have a professional team outside the Grizzlies and just like Sacramento there's not much to do here in Fresno. If the Kings wanted to move here temporarily while they figured something out as far as an arena that'd be a perfect solution. I thought about this and talked to my uncle whose a Laker fan about this. It would never happen, but don't just throw Fresno under the bus. We have over half a million people in our city alone and the Fresno county is one of the biggest in California. 5th total population in California for city. The Kings certainly would be welcomed here and the building could definitely do.

I have checked the facts, and it's NOT on that level. Would be a great compromise if it were to happen, but no chance.

Here are the facts:

Basketball seating: 15,544, nearly 2000 less than ARCO and Honda Center.
Square footage: 430,000 according to Wikipedia. 13,000 less than ARCO, 200,000 less than the Honda center.
Cost to build: somewhere around 100 million. That's all that needs to be known. You can't build an NBA level arena these days for that price tag. The Honda Center cost $123 nearly to build nearly 20 years ago!

I could because they've made some bad business decisions in the past, and if they did for that reason alone, it would probably be their worst. The backlash would be volcanic, and there would be no going back.

Thanks for the summary tru6playa.

Doesn't sound like anything is imminent still, but still... :(

No way. They may go and they may not, but this is definitely not a tactic. They are truly considering it.

I think it's an extremely bad business move to leave for Anaheim, other options are out there, although it would take time for the other options to truly blossom. I'm not sure if the Maloof's want to wait much longer.

A friend of mine says that he knows a very reliable source that says the Kings are leaving Sacramento. Another friend's dad works for the Maloofs also said the Kings are leaving Sacramento.

I'm afraid our worst nightmares are coming true. I'm gonna cry for days.

I hope I'm wrong.

They're asking for an extension.
http://www.sactownroyalty.com/2011/2/24 ... n-deadline

These are all taken from Kriedler's twitter.

# BTW, Kings extension on relocation could well run through the end of the season. The NBA doesn't really have set parameters, I'm told. 14 minutes ago via web

# None of this changes Sac situation -- no arena in sight. Mark Cuban, Phil Jackson among those saying they think team should stay in Sac. 22 minutes ago via web

# (cont.) Could be spin, of course, but my gut says Maloofs haven't heard magic words from Anaheim and that NBA is wary b/c of history there. 24 minutes ago via web

# Kings will turn modest profit this season owing to NBA-low payroll. Lost only modestly last year, contrary to reports. So sez ownership. 25 minutes ago via web

# Per Maloofs, they will not sell franchise under any circumstances and will take NO loan from Ducks owner Samueli. If they move, their dime. 27 minutes ago via web

# Kings will ask for and receive extension from the NBA to consider the Anaheim deal. Am told the league also wants time -- not sold on OC. 30 minutes ago via web

# Lots of interesting Kings/Anaheim conversations today. Tell you what I learned on the Rise Guys show tomorrow 6-10 a.m. KHTK AM-1140.
