The Orlando Magic have begun discussing a contract extension with starting shooting guard Jason Richardson, according to a Twitter update from Steve Kyler of HOOPSWORLD. In separate updates, Kyler says the two sides are "not close at all" on an extension, but that Richardson is the "last guy they want to trade."

Richardson is due to enter free agency this summer upon the conclusion of his $14.4 million contract, but apparently Orlando values the former Michigan State Spartan too highly to let him leave.

If Otis does this I demand his ass to get fired.

If it's for the right price, keeping JRich isn't bad .. It's just, he's a great trade chip right now cause he's a big expiring ..

BTW, the Bulls have traded James Johnson to Toronto for a 2nd round pick ..

Meaning they're gonna make another trade

It will never happen but it would be great if we could sign him to a 1 year deal and have him as an expiring next year to deal in an attempt to land one of the soon to be free agent PG's. However, i think it would make more sense to wait for the new CBA. He probably won't be eligible nor get the dollar amount. The only reason I see to do this now is to get a barometer of what he wants so that if the magic are not willing to give him that large of a contract, they can trade him by the deadline.

Could be either Otis not looking, or Otis (as usual) being very quiet about it and no details till deal's done ..

Bulls are gonna trade for Anthony Parker apparently. By trading Johnson to TOR, they have enough cap space to trade him for a pick, which happened to be the pick they just got from TOR. Maybe add pick(s) of their own too ..

Mixed reports on the Chicago trade. Espn is reporting they are getting Miami's first round pick!! If this is the case they could be loading up to go after mayo or J.R. Smith! If they get either one, they are another team that we will struggle to beat.

Won't happen. The amount of space they have now is exactly what Anthony Parker makes, and they got picks to give Cleveland. And picks is what Cleveland wants for their players .. 1+1=2

Not every contender wants to gut their roster during a season :)

Extending JRich should be the last option at this point. He should be an expiring for us right now and we should only extend if we can't upgrade. That contract is really the last chip we have.

No one should be all that surprised, or pissed that we want to keep a good player.

@SpearsNBAYahoo
Knicks actively trying to acquire Portland center Marcus Camby, but source said Blazers are weighing more attractive options.

Chicago got the Miami 1st Rd Pick in the Bosh trade from Toronto, not The Raptor's 2nd Rd Pick.

Think the Bulls are goin after Courtney Lee w/ their own 1st and Miami's 1st, either Lee or Mayo but more likely C Lee.

Multiple reporters said this would most likely be for Anthony Parker, since they have exactly the same amount of capspace for AP, so they can easily trade picks for AP and get a decent SG without trading any of their current players ..

My bad y'all, actually it might be:

Omer Asik + Miami 1st
for
Courtney Lee

makes sense cause the Rox were looking for a young big and Asik + 1st should get it done.

No way you trade Asik for Anthony Parker let alone add Miami's 1st, that just doesn't seem prudent for the young team direction like the Bulls got going.

They already have Bogans for veteran leadership.
