Atl/Den/Cle trade proposal

Post#1 » by evildallas » Tue Feb 22, 2011 4:15 am

According to the Denver Post the Melo situation is finally passed. http://www.denverpost.com/nuggets/ci_17443219

I humbly suggest the following deal:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=5ukksxt

It's essentially 2 deals:
Atlanta sends to Denver:
Jamal Crawford
Mo Evans
Etan Thomas
1st round pick
for
Nene
Chris Anderson

I'd prefer to send back Zaza and get JR Smith in the deal, but I had to make it attractive enough to Denver to get Nene. He can opt out and while he like Denver I'm not sure how he feels about a complete rebuild. Anderson is a good complimentary piece on a contender, but his salary is high for a backup on a rebuilding team. The combination of the pick and the taking of a bad contract nets us Nene as a starting C.

Atlanta sends to Cleveland
Jeff Teague
Jordan Crawford
2nd round pick
for
Ramon Sessions

In this deal we give up our last 2 #1 picks plus a 2nd rounder (or 2) for a penetrating PG. If this one doesn't work out I would use Zaza to go after Brooks from Houston.

We'd go into the luxury tax and we'd lose our most potent bench scorer, but we remake the lineup without disturbing the core. We'd also have the beef to bang with anyone. It's a go for broke type of move (trying to drum up hope while I realize no help is coming).

Sessions/Bibby
Johnson/Wilkens/Sy
Smith/Williams
Horford/Powell
Nene/Anderson/Pachulia/Collins

ASG has said they would drift into the LT if its significantly upgrades the team which this does but like you said, no help is coming.Knicks just sent a message to teams like,Us, Orlando, and Chicago to step up our game, and make some moves but Atlanta isn't going to budge..

Another possibility is to try and get Felton and Chris Anderson from the Nuggets for Crawford, Teague and a pick. That nets us a starting PG, although I would still prefer Nene and/or Sessions, but this deal would force us into the luxury tax area.

DEN is trying to hold onto Nene with an extension, and now that they're under the LT I couldn't see them parting with talent for mostly expirings. Still, we do seem to match up well with them since their 2 biggest holes going forward (PF and SG) are the 2 positions we seem the most stocked at. From their side, the acquisition of Mozgov and Felton means that they stocked up @ the 2 position we're weakest @ (PG and C).

I could see a deal centered around Smoove + JC2 for Nene + Lawson with a Zaza for Harrington swap and/or pick(s)/prospect(s) thrown in to sweeten the pot a little. I don't think it'd happen until the draft though - I just don't think we'd change our team so radically mid-season... and that's prolly for the best. There's no telling if we'd gel by the time the playoffs come about or even if we end up with a huge hole somewhere by trading Smoove. That's a fairly large risk all things considered...

I think they can flip Mozgov to NJ for a big payback of picks. I understand them wanting to extend Nene and he wants to stay there. Anderson may not be available either because they didn't get gutted as bad as expected.

BTW, if the rumor of Clippers offering Minnesota's 1st for Galinari is true I couldn't say yes fast enough. That pick could be a real stud in 2012.

I think we need to turn our attention to other teams although I'd gauge their interest in dealing Felton. If Harris, Felton, Sessions, and Brooks are all available then dammit 1 should land here.

Something like:
Felton/JR Smith
for
Crawford/Teague/Thomas/1st

Denver would be fools to do that deal. That **** is so lopsided.

If yall want to improve and a team u will have to move Josh Smith there is no escaping this.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
