Discussing Other Teams' Moves

Post#1 » by Rafael122 » Wed Feb 23, 2011 4:23 pm

Blockbuster: Deron Williams to Joisey for two picks, Devin Harris, and Derrick Favors.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

DAME! That's what I gotta say about that.

Melo & DWill in a matter of 48 hours??? Two top 15 players going East is truly swinging the balance of power. Not really liking this to tell ya the truth.

Teddy needs to get off his ass and make some moves this summer or else we're gonna be looking at the bottom of the East for the next 5 years.

Yeah, I'm not really pleased either; might be time for some bottom feeding, dunno.

We'll have to see what happens with the Nets roster over the next whatever (I think they have more picks to deal), but just getting top 7 in the east is gonna to be tough. If Indiana manages to snag some respectable free agents, it could be be one of those 47 wins gets you the 8th seed sort of things.

I guess this sort of conference power swing was bound to happen eventually.

Ah, but according to hands all is going swimmingly well. And according to Lyrical, In Ernie we trust. We'll be better in the 2nd half of the season than in the 1st. Ernie is doing no worse than an A- or B at this stage.

Remember this is part of Teddy's master plan. We wanted to suck donkey ball (sorry donk). Step one in our mission has certainly been achieved.

With a new CBA on the horizon it's really hard to say anything. I think these teams that are loading up on megastars are gunna get screwed once a hard cap is in place.

I was in the same boat, until Melo and Williams came East in the last 48 hours. This is the new NBA, cuttthroat, super teams, etc. Ted needs to get on board or we're going to fall behind.

Draft another stud with our top 5 pick next year and then try to trade everyone but him and Wall for a superstar or a third solid piece.

Isn't that the plan; to build through the draft? Of course we are susceptible of EG making a dumb pick but the plan all along was to acquire young guys that can play together for 10-15 years. There's a big difference building through star caliber guys like Wall than mid first rounders and later picks like McGee, Young, Booker, Seraphin, and Blatche.

We have to keep our pick this year, but 2012 and beyond is a different story. Gut the team and start fresh, it's obvious where this is all heading.

I'd trade Howard for Boston's pick this year.

I'd trade Hinrich for Bibby + Jordan Crawford and their 2012 1st round pick.

Wow, didn't see that one coming.

I thought the Utah board was going to be losing their minds on this one but they actually are fairly level-headed about it. They figured they'd lose Deron for nothing in free agency anyway and were especially not happy about the Sloan situation.

I still think they should have gotten more for Williams. I wonder how many teams were aware of him being shopped. Plus, the centerpiece of this trade for Utah is Favors, but he plays the same position as Jefferson and Millsap.

So now that Deron is gone is Sloan coming back?

Utah did the right thing -- the only thing they could do. Deron Williams wasn't coming back to Utah. [He wasn't going to the Knicks either.] Deron Williams gets to go to NY [Brooklyn is a fine borough] and Utah got some good stuff.

Kudos to the Nets. The Knicks may get all the pub, but the Nets got the better player. Deron Williams > Carmelo Anthony.

Just means the Jazz are probably not done dealing. I think they did pretty well, considering everyone knew they were going to lose Deron Williams for nothing.

BTW, Jazz got a pretty good deal by trading Deron Williams. Derrick Favors and 2 first round picks plus they didn't have to deal with the drama like Melo. The Warriors pick which the Jazz acquired is top 7 protected in 2012. IMO, the Jazz were not going to win a championship with that group.

Sources said Dallas turned down a New Jersey proposal of Harris for Caron Butler, Mavs rookie Dominique Jones and a first-round pick.

How long are we going to build through the draft. We're just going to get younger and more inexperienced.

Hey, I'm still waiting for us to dump Blatche. Unless that happens in the next couple hours, that grade drops to a C.

I think we also have to take some time to digest what these other moves mean for the East and how it should affect the Wiz going forward. I'm not going to penalize Ernie for not responding to something that happened only 20 minutes ago.

Re: Deron to NJ - Do we know which picks got sent to Utah? Were the NJ's own picks, or the ones owed to them by DAL/GSW?

We'll be ready to contend by 2017.

Miami is looking to deal Mike Miller. I think we should trade a top 5 pick for him!
