Deron Williams to NJ/Brooklyn

Post#1 » by KingLakers » Wed Feb 23, 2011 4:06 pm

Wojahowski just said on his twitter account that Deron Williams has been traded to NJ/Brooklyn Nets. WOW the West is literally falling apart.

yeah, looks like a done deal. crazy.

nets just trumped the knicks melo trade after making them pay with most of their assets.

Lmao this makes the Knicks deal look horrible. Melo is probably like damn I should have waited. 2 less teams to worry about just like that. The road to playoffs could be that much easier.

I think this makes it more likely that Dwight leaves the East in 2012 the West seems to have the easiest path to the finals now with just an aging San Antonio, Dallas, Lakers, and a young OKC left as contenders.

I actually see it as a greater chance of Dwight staying in the East. Now all we will here is "Will Dwight be leaving the Magic for the Nets in 2012."

Wow this is huge ! We have a new player in the game. I'd love to see Prokorov be the Rex Ryan of the NBA, how's his English ?

Nice trade for Utah as well.

Does this mean DWIll had more to do with Sloan leaving as we originally thought?

All these All-Stars/superstars have left the Western Conference (Stoudemire, Anthony, Williams). The tri-state area must be buzzing after picking up Carmelo and Deron these past few days.

I dont know about that skyhook yes the Nets now have pieces to trade for Dwight but Dwight has to figure you got Dwayne, Bosh and Lebron in Miami Melo and Amare and maybe Paul with the Knicks D. Rose Boozer and maybe another guy in Chicago and D will in Brooklyn but does Dwight want to share a city with Amare and Melo with also D Will. Or he can come to the West maybe the Lakers for example still be the franchise by then Kobe will be 34 and willing to take a back seat to Dwight similar to what Shaq did with Dwayne in Miami for 2 yrs.

Dwight would be the biggest thing in New York. He is better than Melo and is most certainly a better big man than Amare. I'm still not ready to buy into the Dwight to L.A. thing like others are. My idea is that if Dwight does go to a Western Conference team then it will be OKC. However you never know. With all that is going on maybe some Western Conference team will clear space for Dwight. One thing though. Its hard to see Dwight staying with the Magic after the Eastern Conference has beefed up some more.

Lebron could have come West but he knew he still had to deal with the Lakers, Spurs, and OKC so he decided to stay in the east at the time it looked like it was the easiest path to the finals now he might be thinking differently. I can't imagine Dwight wanting to stay in the east even with D. Will because all those other teams have stars about the same age as him they are all gonna hit their primes pretty much at the same. Does Dwight really want to be in the east when that happens?

OKC could also be a player for Dwight they certainly have the pieces to trade in a year.

Amar’e Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams have now moved out of the Western Conference from their respective teams (Suns, Nuggets, and Jazz). The Lakers have played each and every one of those teams in the playoffs for the past 3 years. For now, the top powerhouses in the West are San Antonio, Dallas, and Los Angeles.

Dwight Howard has been hinting that it is a possibility that he wants to play for the Lakers (or some other team) in the future if Orlando doesn’t start playing championship basketball and all these trades and signings have got me thinking. 2 years ago, he had to face Wade and the Heat, the Big 3 in Boston, and James and the Cavs. Now, he has to go up against Wade, James, and Bosh on the Heat, the Big 3 in Boston (plus Shaq), Rose and Boozer on the Bulls, Williams on the Nets, and Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony on the Knicks. He’s got big competition in the East, even moreso than before. The West has now pretty much been watered down of it’s all-stars/superstars, with only Bryant, CP3, Durant, and TD being the big names left. Maybe a move to the Lakers and a much easier Western Conference will be enough to motivate him to force a sign and trade to the Lakers, or sign as a free agent, if all the right moves and agreements are made a couple of years from now… what do you guys think? What I'm really trying to say is that I don't think Howard will be in the Eastern Conference for long.

RT @Lockedonsports: Deron Williams told me it was not his choice. He's stunned. Declined interview until he figures out what it all means

LOL imagine this dude does not sign the extension and heads to NY. He doesn't seem happy at all about the trade.

I don't think all the trading and dealing are done yet. There's 27 more hours left until the deadline.

eh, i don't think stunned means he's not happy about going to NJ, just that it came out of nowhere, which i did.

I'm just surprised we couldn't make an offer here.

Edit: If he refuses to sign an extension with NJ over the summer is an S&T still probable for us?

It sucks not having any assets. Let's hope the Lakers have a future after this year and the next.

OK, so correct me if I'm wrong. Doesn't every player that have been playing for 5 years or more have a "no trade clause" contract or something like that?

If Derron doesn't really wanted to be traded, why did he gave up his rights? Maybe he wanted out ever since and he just wanted to keep it behind close doors, and didn't want the media to get involve?
