Deron to Clippers?
I've heard rumors about Deron Williams would like a trade to Clippers (search on google)
Wouldn't that be a dream come true.. And I guess Baron could lure him here, since they are good friends.
I'm assuming two draft picks, including Minnys, Bledsoe, Aminu + Kaman to a 3rd team could do it.
Thoughts?

See my earlier post "swinging for the fences", as I had this exact scenario w/Indiana in the equation. We'd get DWill, Elson and Granger. Utah gets: Aminu, Bledsoe, J. Foster and Dunleavy(19m/exp), while Indiana receives Kaman, Foye, and Kirilenko(17m/exp) plus Clippz #1 this year.

Re: Deron to Clippers
why go after Dwill? after the 2012 season Chris Paul & Dwill will both be Free Agents, why waste money & picks for them now?
If we can get Iggy (Philly) or Gallinari (Denver) for Minny's 1st Round or Kaman, we can still get a lottery Pick this draft and really add to our team on the floor. One of my biggest concerns is resigning; DeAndre, Eric & Ike Diagou. We have a great core, lets keep it together.

Re: Deron to Clippers
Williams is a player I'd like to acquire. Now if it's trade or outright sign I don't know. I think we should find a way to get him. If we wait to sign I was thinking we could sign the PG that doesn't go to the Knicks, either Williams or Paul.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Re: Deron to Clippers?
I had a post all planned for this, but my browser crashed and I lost it
He'll be a free-agent, but Utah has seen what has happened with franchise players over the last 8 months. They've even lost one themselves in Boozer. Denver went against the grain and opted to move their franchise player before he got the opportunity to walk like Bron, Bosh, Stoudemire or Boozer. Deron or any other free-agent is going to want their maximum salary potential, so a trade of some sort is almost necessary to an extent whether it's an extend & trade or sign & trade.
It would be great to be able to add him sooner than later, so that you can get a jump on things and not have to worry about it down the line. The downside is that you'll have to give up more. We have great trade assets and need to be patient in any type of move that we make. Having a foundation of Griffin and Gordon is enough to entice a big time talent. We'll have prospects (Bledsoe, Aminu, Warren and whoever we draft with our 2011 draft pick), expiring contracts (Kaman & Foye) and can offer future draft picks (Minny and 2014 Clipper pick).
We're in a good position. I'd love to have any one of Williams, Paul or Howard, but I'd prefer Howard or Williams above Paul. I don't trust his knee. If he was the only willing player, then I would gladly take him, but he's definitely not my highest preference.

Re: Deron to Clippers?
if the Clips play their cards right and manage to clear Davis for an expiring next season, they could have the room to sign 2 of the top FAs in 2012.
Howard + Paul/Williams
2012-13
Howard
Griffin
Aminu
Gordon
Paul/Williams
i think there would be a new best team in LA...

We can put this rumor to rest now: Williams has just been traded to the Nets for Harris, Favors, and 2 first rounders.

Our front office stinks. We couldve gotten this guy for Bledsoe, AFA AND 2 number ones last nite I bet. Now way Favors will be better than AFA mark my words. This posses me off, all these stars switching teams and we're worried about F'n picks. Been a fan since 87 and I'm done, we will never compete on the court consistently cause we don't pay/play well off of it. This ain't real estate D.S terling.

Re: Deron to Clippers?
We could have made such a better offer. It absolutely sucks we couldn't get it done.
Our front office failed, and they wanted Gallinari. If you have a chance to get a true superstar, I dont care who you give you go for it.
give whatever picks we have. damn it!
so much for my dream of seeing Deron to Blake aley-oops all night long.

Well, since he hasn't since he hasn't signed an extension with Nets yet. We might still have a chance to get him, but not until 2012

Guys, I know it sucks, but we were never in the running to get Deron, simply because of Baron, and his awful contract. Whether you like it or not, he's probably going to stay with us for a while.

Re: Deron to Clippers?
Trading for him was not going to be the best move for us. Some of our fans were upset that we didn't try to acquire him now, but we did not have a comparable package to the Nets. To beat that offer we'd have to give up someone who we wouldn't want to give up. There's no disappointment on that front for me.
Deron will not be able to extend before a new CBA is in place. If New Jersey doesn't try to add another big time piece to team him up with between now and free-agency, then he's probably going to walk. Baron or no Baron this team, we have the necessary pieces to make a play for him. We may have to make some Miami type deals where we trade away players like Gomes and a pick or Bledsoe to free up some cap space, but we can do it provided we don't add any high paid, long-term salary between now and then.
If the whole 2012 season is locked out, then that is going to incredibly suck for New Jersey. This was a ballsy move that could be a stroke of genius or a total failure (i.e. D-Will walks at end of contract).

I was thinking the same thing, now it all depends on what Deron wants to do. If he extends with the Nets then we will have to look else where.

If they could somehow get Howard to come, then they could convince Deron to stay. If there is a franchise tag, then obviously that works in New Jersey's favor in keeping Deron longer than expected. If their team doesn't improve from where it currently stands, then I don't see Deron wanting to stay. It's pretty much just Brook Lopez right now. No 2011 draft pick. I don't think that their owner is done by any means, but he's going to have to pull off something else that major enough in the next 12 months to make it work.

Re: Deron to Clippers?
Maybe the dream has just been delayed.
According to John Hollinger,
"Williams isn't extension-eligible until July 9, which means he retains the threat of opting out of his contract and heading for some place warmer (cough … Clippers … cough) in the summer of 2012."
