Lots of discussion in the draft thread about Sullinger, Williams, Kanter etc, all bigs more-ready for minutes over Seraphin. Question, what happens to Kevin if we draft one of these ^bigs? . I suppose there may be enough minutes to go around once Armstrong is gone, but we also have Hamady. Thoughts?

Seraphin is a center. He won't impact the minutes of Sullinger, Williams or Kanter.

Hamady is an afterthought who will probably never play in this league. He is irrelevant as far as roster decisions go.

I thought I saw some baby steps from Baby huey last night vs IND,
things that raised the possibility of the game starting to slow
down a little for him.

I like what i have seen from him so far. Yes he is too foul prone and has a lot to learn but his physicality is badly needed on such a soft team. He has also shown a nice jump hook.

+1 worth keeping around to see if he'll give us some quality back-up minutes. I LOVE the picks he sets! :)

He needs to kind of making it obvious that he's out to level the opposing player though lol  He's surprisingly quick on his feet. I think there could be some potential mins at PF for him when he develops a refined offensive game.

I like the possibility of him eventually being a starter, assuming we
keep JM. I think McGee is better suited to being a backup where
his mere athleticism may be enough for him to be successful
even if he never really figures out how to play.

Baby Huey is a better defender against back to the basket Cs
than JM right now after a relative handful of games. He clearly
needs to learn how to use his physicality more discreetly but he
is showing himself to be an immovable force.

Based on what I'm seeing in tonight's game, this guy is at least 2 years away from being a good player. He looks solid, compared to where he was at the beginning of the season to now, the improvement is like night and day.

And the funny thing about it is that McGee hasn't changed one bit since he got drafted, and this is his 3rd year in the league; Still committing stupid fouls, still goal-tending, still dribbling into 3 defenders, still no real go-to move, his D is still suspect, his rebounding still hasn't improved much since college...

Difference is Kevin wants to be coached and he picks things up quickly. Kevin probably wouldn't be where he is now if he had been in the NBDL.

The hook that he has been making routinely is not an easy shot to master. Horford and Smith have been using it for years but they are basically in the flip it up there and hope camp. Their form isn't nearly as good as Seraphin's.

For him to be so comfortable with that shot at this stage is definitely encouraging.

Yea he clearly has the best chance of giving us any back to basket scoring. To be as physical of a player as he is and to have that touch around the basket at his age is pretty good. IDK why everyone is so convinced that he is strictly a Center though. I think he could see significant minutes at PF. He's an underrated athlete i saw him dunking in the pregame warm-up and I was pretty impressed. I was upset that the entire team used the layup line for a amateur dunk contest which showed me that they were not focused at all but that's for another thread.

That's one of the things that stood out to me pretty early on when all we had to go on were those French national team videos. He's got surprisingly good footwork, and looks like a total natural with the back to the basket.

He's pretty far from being able to score consistently in the box, but you can definitely tell that he has the tools to eventually turn into a post scoring option.

There is a "Baby Huey" like aspect to Kevin's game right now which I hope will fade with time....kinda lumbering and slow to react. I'd like to see him become quicker and more agressive around the basket, both in rebounding and in finishing. Use that size dammit.

Yeah this thread has its fair share of McGee bashing but Seraphin could take note of how McGee goes up around the rim wanting make a poster of anything and anybody.... just cut the tape before he does that dumb salute...

I don't see Seraphin having a celestial ceiling, but his basement is looking more and more solid. This guy could be our Perkins for years to come, and I really hope he fulfills that potential. He seems to have the work ethic, and he has pretty good physical talent, so let's all clap really hard and hope it comes together. :-)

Those guys do a real good job with their presentations. I've been wondering who's going to rub off on who - among our bigs. I think the answer so far is nobody. I'm guessing Drey and Jav are pretty much in their own world, and Seraphin is smart enough not to emulate them.
