According to Marc Stein in a radio interview, Murphy "prefers Boston and Dallas" to Orlando/Miami.

This is it guys. The East is taking shape. We have to make Orlando attractive to other stars. We have to make big moves to stay competitive. I don't want to see Dwight leave. I want us to shock the world again.

Ok, motivational speech over. Let's see how Otis reacts today.

Well, ... dang.

Anyways, looking at the rubble that's left of the Utah Jazz, you've gotta figure they're trying to rebuild, with Favors as a potential centerpiece. And their frontline looks kinda crowded for that.

C: A. Jefferson/ M. Okur/ K. Fesenko
F: P. Millsap/D. Favors/ F. Elson

Maybe we can make a play for one of Jefferson/Millsap by dangling J-Rich?

I consider myself one of the more positive poster's around here. However I'm finding it harder and harder to feel good about this team. Not just this season, I'm looking ahead. Miami is only going to get better. Same goes for the Bulls and Knicks. The Nets are in a position to be a very good team in the next 2 years or so if Deron stays. Boston has a couple years left. Then I look at what we have, an againg roster with a ton of awful contracts. I don't think we could move Hedo or Arenas if we tried. JRich is expiring, who knows what will happen with him. Dwight could leave (Although I'm not one who thinks it's going to happen). We have no 1st round pick again. We seem so tied down, I'm just not seeing a bright side.

sigh :( ... everyone is getting better, from Miami to New Jersey... everybody is getting a 2nd or 3rd star... or getting that key back-up big or defensive swingman off the bench... or getting a good rebuilding start with draft picks and young players to work with... the East is just so much tougher now

... i think my optimism for this team and their chances to win fell to the wayside... i hope Otis pulls out something amazing in the next 24 hrs... but i'm afraid it won't happen :(

I was thinking the same thing, they need to dump some of them guys somewhere. I doubt we would be smart enough to make a run at Millsap or Jefferson though.

Everyone outside of Orlando is getting better .. Even Boston is making a trade:

@Sam_Amick
Warriors and Boston in discussions that would send Nate Robinson to the Warriors, source says. Not done yet though. Other pieces unclear.

I freaking hear ya. We do have trade pieces though. It seems that' what it takes nowadays. Gut your roster as long as you get the superstars. I just hope Otis has a plan and isn't staying pat.

my optimism died for this team last year in the ecf. stan still coaching and the bad moves otis makes aren't making me think anymore positive.

magic fans base their championship dreams on hope and faith rather than a sense of assurance. they know their team is flawed but they hope the team corrects their flaws in the playoffs and bring home a ship. a jump shooting, soft, non-defense playing team is not gonna correct their bad habits.

Stan Van Gundy's reaction to Utah trading Deron Williams to the Nets: "It's interesting getting this much movement from franchise players."

Jazz phones "blowing up" with calls about Millsap, Jefferson, source says. Teams trying to see if they can get either on the cheap.

Don't know about this .. Doubt they would give up any of them for garbage ..

Quick someone plug in the possible players and numbers for a logical three-way deal among Orlando, Memphis, and Utah(post-Deron)... see what can be worked out

I'm just curious ... or optimistic again... sigh, come on Otis

Jrich + orton for Milsap or Jefferson let them pick. Big A$$ expiring and a young prospect. sell them on the Favors Orton Twin towers of the future. maybe we can get them to throw in raja bell or another defensive wing.

To add on to my post^... here's my theory/hopeful trade wish (and I'm thinking post-Deron Utah, now with Harris at PG and Favors at PF)

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=4jvo75a

Paul Millsap to Orlando
Al Jefferson to Memphis
Zach Randolph, Brandon Bass, and Chris Duhon to Utah

Magic DEPTH Roster:
PG: Nelson (28 min)/Arenas (20 min)
SG: J-Rich (28 min)/Redick (12 min)/Arenas (8 min)
SF: Hedo (28 min)/Clark (20 min)/Q-Rich
PF: Millsap (28 min)/Anderson (16 min)/Clark (4 min)
C: Howard (32 min)/Anderson (12 min)/Clark (4 min)Allen/Orton

9-man Rotation:
Howard: 32 min
Millsap: 28 min
Nelson: 28 min
J-Rich: 28 min
Hedo: 28 min
Arenas: 28 min
Anderson: 28 min
Clark: 28 min
Redick: 12 min

Billy King is going to call Otis Smith before the deadline an offer a package around Lopez!
It may be the last opportunity to get something in return!

Yeah, pretty much... but Millsap is so much better than Bass (Millsap is having an all-star break-out season, as a 3rd option in Utah), and all we would give up is Bass (Duhon doesn't count, but it's great to get his contract off the books)... Utah and Memphis get the deals they want (Memphis gets Jefferson, an all-star PF with years left, so they don't have to worry about Zach's expiring and having to send them... and Utah would gain back Zach and Bass for Jefferson and Millsap)
