Hell no.

Thabeet has a 4.9 PER this season. Jordan Hill is more than just marginally better. Otherwise, I agree.

LOL... I'd take Pietrus for a pick - but that contract is pricey at 5.3 per this season and next.

If that's the case, Cliff Levingston hopes the Bulls play some hard ball. Taking Thabeet off their hands while saving them immediate money has to be worth something. If we give up Taj, Cliff Levingston would hope that we can hold onto the Charlotte pick to use in the future. Omer would need to step up and take Taj's minutes but Cliff Levingston thinks we could get away with that. Noah, Boozer and Thomas with Asik sprinkled in this year; Boozer, Noah and Asik with Thomas sprinkled in next year. In exchange for Mayo; that's do-able.

The extra pick we got. Pretty much Houston and Memphis will have to answer if swapping Gibson/Asik for a pick is worth it. I think they'd be stupid to turn them down because both deals are pretty sweet

We are going to squeeze everyone by telling them what the other guys are offering. It's a freaking auction, and the Bulls are the one who has what these teams want - picks, and if the deal is sweet enough, a young big. This is great.

Houston will be the toughest nut to crack, because of Morey. Memphis has a history of caving. Denver is in flux. Phoenix is rebuilding, as are the Jazz. And we haven't even really explored all the possible three way deals. Whew.

Not much work is going to get done between now and 2 pm tomorrow, though.

yeah, just say no to pietrus. too much money and he's just worse than everyone else we've got as options. hell, anthony parker will cost less and is much better...although pietrus is younger, but he's still not the long-term option we're looking for. parker also keeps our flexibility moving forward. the pietrus stuff has just gotta be posturing or a smoke screen.

Pietrus is probably better than Anthony Parker.

If Memphis is requiring that we take Thabeet to get Mayo, that is $9.25 million total in salary. We have cap space of about $3 million, so that means that we would have to send out $6.25 million in salary to do the deal. Bogans (1.6) and Scal (850 K) add up to about 2.5. That means we need about 3.75 more. CJ alone will not get it done. Korver or Brewer would. I would replace Taj with Korver in the deal reported by Ralph, and do the deal. Thoughts?

Or, can we sign a D-leaguer and then trade him immediately? Then maybe CJ plus Scal and Bogans would work.

well, i guess that could be debatable depending on how you value certain skills, but for the extra money and year on pietrus's deal...plus the fact that he's still not the long-term solution, and parker is still a much better get for us then pietrus.

courtney lee is obviously our target and i'm hard pressed to think of a legit/realistic target that pax/gar has yet to hit with a deadline deal. at least if you think back the last 3 years or so. i'm pretty confident that, at the very least, we'll find a way to get courtney lee for some combination of picks or in some smaller 3 team deal getting houston a big back.

You're so vague in your posts. Who's "they?"

Anyway, if the Bulls come back with "Ok, we'll do Taj and Bogans for Mayo and Thabeet but we're replacing that Charlotte pick with the Miami pick", would Memphis really turn that down? Remember the Pau deal; it was cap relief (which they get here, immediately), picks and prospects. That's what this deal provides for them and they get a lot of relief in getting rid of Thabeet, who sucks.

Then, we still have that Charlotte pick to deal. Or, if Memphis doesn't want to deal without that pick and you can live with it, take the lower picks out and only give them Taj + Bogans + Charlotte 1st. We use those lower picks to try to get a replacement for Taj or hold onto them and use them in the draft to try to find a suitable Taj replacement.

That's all Cliff Levingston is saying. ICLO, us taking Thabeet for straight cap space is pretty valuable, ICLO. It needs to count for something.

But... why? Pietrus isn't really "bad" at anything... I don't think he's very good at anything either but most players aren't.

All I know is by adding Courtney Lee, we will add one hell of a defensive player to our already suffocating defense. Courtney is also 6'5", so he's not an undersized shooting guard by any means.

Bogans, Charlotte first, Miami first. Do it.

We can run absolutely horrifying lineups of:

Starters:
Rose, Lee, Deng, Boozer, Noah

Bench:
Watson, Brewer, Korver, Gibson, Asik

Defensive:
Rose, Lee, Brewer, Gibson, Noah

Offensive:
Rose, Watson, Deng, Boozer, Noah

Small ball:
Rose, Watson, Lee, Deng, Gibson

3 point:
Rose, Lee, Korver, Deng, Noah

Height:
Rose, Brewer, Korver, Noah, Asik

Taj and Asik both for Mayo? Gar should be fired if he does that.

One of them? Maybe, if not much else is involved. Why not trade as hard as you can to get him without including those guys? There's still over one full day left before the deadline.

Well yeah, but I don't see a way we can get a player of OJ's upside without giving up Taj or Asik. It would be suicide to give up both but only because it would cripple our front court depth.
