I know huh? How ridiculous to think that defense, reboundng and frontcourt depth are the things that help win playoff games. You know, as opposed to 4th option SG's averaging 10 points a game.

Don't forgett he fantastic offense that Taj and Omer bring to the table. Also, it's not easy to ignore that amazing playoff series Taj had last year vs Cleveland.

And yes, Lee would help us a lot more than two guys who are going to combine for 20 minutes per game in the playoffs.

Exactly. The Bulls have always been too quick to label a player untouchable.

Deng was untouchable in a trade for Kobe, who may end his career as a top 5 player of all time.

Now Taj and Omer are untouchable? Taj is a real nice backup. Again, he will never start for us. If Taj is starting for long stretches then we're in serious trouble.

Championship teams do NOT start Taj Gibson quality players. They start Lamar Odoms, Paul Gasols, Kevin Garnetts, and Tim Duncans at the 4 spot. I love Taj, but he's not there, and he probably never will.

Here I was thinking after the Boozer move that the Bulls management was starting to get some cojones.

Asik should be shopped to the highest bidder for a SG. Gibson should even be floated if the trade involves the right guy (Parker, Mayo, and Lee aren't worth trading for Taj).

Courtney Lee played for the Nets team that went 12-70, he started 66 games for that team and he never averaged more than 13 points for that sorry team, while OJ Mayo who has to share the ball with Zach Randolph and Rudy Gay averaged 18 and 17 pts per game in his first 2 seasons as a starter. If you want a SG get Mayo who has the ability to also run point for you. Lee is a role player that isn't a good scorer. If you can't get Mayo, just play the season out and try to get a player through free agency or the draft, Courtney Lee isn't the answer especially when you talk about losing Asik for him.

I'm open to trading Taj. Much easier to replace a guy who's only getting 20-25 MPG/game instead of trying to replace a Asik, a true center (7" and > 250 lbs) that actually has some upside and growing to do. At 26, Taj sadly has probably reached his peak and we also have more than enough frontcourt power right now that we can afford to cash some of it in for help at the 2.

The benefit reaped by getting a good SG will more than outweigh the loss of Taj, whose loss will be shored up in part by Kurt Thomas for the rest of the season. We can then sign a replacement in the summer.

"Offensively he is raw, but he has quickness, a work ethic, and motivation. I wouldn't bet against him one day averaging double figures while pulling in 12+ rebounds and 3 blocks a game. "

Are you crazy? Do you know how many centers currently do that? Without looking at the stats I'm going out on a limb and saying no one in the entire league has these numbers. 3 blocks a game? those are hall of fame numbers.

Bogut leads the league in blocks at 2.9 a game.

This is how crazy this thread is. People making claims without knowing the stats.

No idea why you think that notion is funny. Teams that make deep playoff runs tend to have well-stocked frontcourts and win more battles inside than they lose.

No one is saying Asik is Bill Russell, but he makes it extremely difficult for the other team to score near the basket (when the refs don't call fouls on him for kicks). He also defends the PnR well. He's a smart player, particularly on defense, and improving. That's friggin important in the playoffs, and it's not something you give up without a lot of apprehension.

We will possibly have to face an equally deep, and very experienced, Boston frontcourt - unless we luck out and they stay perpetually injured until the summer, we'll need to exploit Miami's tissue-soft frontcourt as a serious matchup advantage (along with the Unicorn demolishing their PG of course), and/or we'll need to contain Dwight Howard.

I'd like to have Omer and Taj on my side for those battles, and much as I'd like to add Lee, I really don't want to give either of them up to get him. An hour before the deadline, if nothing has happened yet, I might be willing to do it because we do need a SG. Now, I'm still holding out that they'll take the picks.
Can I borrow a feeling?

So what, just because someone brings up a valid point , you always got something smart to say.

And yes, i want you to tell me what a young center does that makes him so valuable to our future that say, erden couldnt do, or fesenko or kufous .. i mean how many centers can put up 2.7 and 3..5 in almost 12 MPG.. line must be long pimp.. hell erden does about the same thing

This is true...he was untouchable...by kobe. Kobe wanted to play w/ him. LA didn't budge. That wasn't even a real offer...sooo yeaaaaa

Now Taj and Omer are untouchable? Taj is a real nice backup. Again, he will never start for us. If Taj is starting for long stretches then we're in serious trouble.

Don't get me wrong....I have no problem trading these guys for a SG...but both these guys are performing. For a MEM/HOU to ask for both plus picks for guys that ARE NOT performing is a little much. I don't mind doing a Taj + couple picks for OJ. I don't mind doing the Miami + 2nd rd pick for C.Lee, but Asking for anything more is ridiculous.

Championship teams do NOT start Taj Gibson quality players. They start Lamar Odoms, Paul Gasols, Kevin Garnetts, and Tim Duncans at the 4 spot. I love Taj, but he's not there, and he probably never will.

Well thats great because we have boozer starting. Championship teams do have a 2nd unit that have guys like taj.

Here I was thinking after the Boozer move that the Bulls management was starting to get some cojones.

deng was the piece in the kobe trade that chicago wouldn't part with.

i have a clue.

that is fact. it's history. it all came down to deng and the bulls wouldn't move him.

I hope no one is holding their breath on this trade. Houston's GM Morey is a VERY STUBBORN man. He wants to rape everyone in the trades (look at his history).

He wants to do the same with Bulls and see if Bulls might get desperate in the final hour and gives up 1 of Taj or Asik to get Lee.

I really hope Bulls don't and won't. I rather play our Trio at SG than trade Taj or Omer for freaking Lee.

Maybe if it's for Mayo, I might go for it.

Heck, I wouldn't even give up bobcats' pick for Lee.

I love when people say players are untouchable. You act like your in the Bulls FO and you know everything going on behind the scenes.

Good grief.

1) The Lakers weren't going to trade Bryant.

2) Bryant wanted Deng to stay on the Bulls.

Otherwise, spot on.

He didn't have a valid point - he posted crap and i called him on it. pimp. Whatever the hell that means.

Oh, and none of those guys have defense or rebounding near Asik (Well, Kosta does, but his FG% is brutal). But nice try.

What???

Flashback, it was KOBE who didn't want Deng to be included in any deal or he wouldn't even think about coming to Chicago.

It was Kobe not Bulls that didn't want to include Deng.

Get your facts straight bud.
