Bill Simmons: "It's just starting to dawn on me that Darko Milicic, Michael Beasley, Eddy Curry and Anthony Randolph are on the same team."

How did Kahn manage to do this? Is he like a reverse-savant?

Disappointing if we just stand pat, there is no guarantee that we even make the playoffs, even with Denver and Utah changing players. I just hate that we are banking on this team as constructed to play better than they are, rather than going out and trying to do something to improve the team. We have players who are obviously disinterested, who are not playing, and who are performing well-below expectations.

I know some people are saying our best move is to not do anything, but we are 27-27, a .500 mediocre team that only plays up to expectations if Nash is on the court.

Carter's expiring, Childress, and Orlando's pick maybe?

Favors clearly won't get time behind Millsap and Big Al.

But why would Utah do that trade?

my sentiments exactly

interesting to hear that teh Utah management told Jerry they would blow the team up if he'd stay. he said no, and they shipped DWill anyway

From what i read, they were afraid he wouldnt sign a extension and wanted to go to NY, so they traded him when he had his max value. They didnt want to be in the same boat as CLE/TOR/DEN/Us.

This Melo trade is going to get D'Antoni fired. Melo/Billups are PREDOMINANTLY iso players...and that is against everything Mike stands for.

Either Mike changes his offense, or Mike's gone.

I think we know Mike won't change his offense.

Oh, and they somehow got even worse defensively.

Honestly...do you really go all in for CARMELO ANTHONY? Come on now...

Either Melo adapts and they do well, Mike adapts and they do well, or neither adapt and they all fail horribly.

With Utah going down the **** we're definitely going to take their spot.
The Phoenix Suns - 54-28. Projected Record: 54-28 3rd Seed

The Phoenix Suns - 2010-2011 Projected Record: 30-52 3rd lottery pick.

Denver just beat a team ahead of us without Melo and Chauncie. There is no guarantee that we make the playoffs due to these trades.

I don't know. We have a higher percentage of winning a playoff series than winning the lottery because even if we don't make the playoffs, we're going to be one of the last to not make it.

Yeah, nothing says "fostering a winning attitude" than "I hope we miss the playoffs in a league where more than half the league makes it".

....I agree with Sav. Mike D'Antoni is on his way out. Just like it was scripted that Donnie Walsh would slowly be pushed out. Who New York gets to coach? Who knows. The NBA is disgusting. You have the inmates running the asylum.

If healthy, the Suns will make the playoffs. Like I said, if there were a decent trade that worked, it would be made, but there is no point to take a gamble because there is just more to lose (team chemistry, timing to regroup, etc) when the best case scenario of a deal really wouldn't make the team much better.

OK, so from what i hear, POR/CHA are working out the players in the deal (Miller/Augustine might be added), and both teams are searching for a 3rd team to help out.

CHA gets Miller/Pryzbilla/Pietrus/POR 1st/$$$$
Miller/Jax/Pietrus/Thomas/Mohammed

POR gets Nash/Wallace
Nash/Roy/Wallace/Aldridge/Camby

PHX gets Augustine/Batum/Oden/Diaw
Augustine/VC/Hill/Frye/Gortat Next year-----> Augustine/Dudley/Batum/Frye/Gortat

Nah man..

Everyone hates losing..

and the Suns have had good-very good results and a history of success... NO doubt.

But sometimes, in a league especially of CAPITALISM..... you have to sometimes TACTICALLY make decisions that may HURT short term... but BENEFIT long term...

You're thinking short term... by trying to compete this season and be mediocre for the next 10 years...

Nets got Deron Williams beause they had Favors, who was a No.2 pick.....

Suns will need HIGH picks to be able to trade for Stars....

In the future, it seems the Stars are aligning themselves together in the big cities....
Suns do not have any stars younger than 30.... we currently have 1... Nash.

Basically, Suns should strategically LOSE out on a playoff race to enter the top 10 draft pick race... get themselves a young talent... then package that talent IF required... for a disgruntled STAR wanting out of his current team....

Its a tactical move... that benefits long term.....

short term... big whoop, suns miss out on the playoffs... where its pretty much a 4 team race anyways... Lakers, Spurs, Celtics, Heat/Magic....

Hawks Exploring Trade Options

By: Alex Kennedy

With the trade deadline quickly approaching, the Atlanta Hawks are definitely a team to keep an eye on. With the team's recent struggles, sources close to the situation say that the Hawks are looking to make a move, and are shopping everyone outside of Joe Johnson and Al Horford.

Atlanta has been working the phones and has targeted point guards such as Ramon Sessions and Kirk Hinrich. Yesterday, the Hawks also discussed a potential Devin Harris trade before he was dealt to the Utah Jazz this morning. In these talks, Atlanta is dangling Jeff Teague, Marvin Williams, Mike Bibby and Maurice Evans.

But the Hawks have also explored the possibility of making a major move that could involve Josh Smith, Jamal Crawford, or Jordan Crawford. Atlanta hasn't entered serious discussions involving these players, but they have floated them in several trade scenarios and gauged interest in their services.

Sources close to the situation made it clear that while these players aren't untouchable, the price tag attached to each player is high. Atlanta isn't going to break up their core unless it improves their roster today and puts them in better position to contend. Sources believe that the Hawks are searching for an upgrade at the point guard position or a true center that would allow Horford to return to his natural position at power forward, a move he and his camp have pushed for this season.

Even if the Hawks don't complete a major deal, don't be surprised if some combination of Teague, Williams, Bibby and Evans is dealt. The Hawks have been shopping these players for much of the season.

Prior to the season, head coach Larry Drew was one of Teague's biggest supporters, but the young point guard hasn't lived up to expectations and his minutes have dwindled. Williams and Bibby were shopped last offseason after the team extended Johnson, and Atlanta continues to search for suitors for the veterans. Evans is an expiring contract and his camp has acknowledged that he is being shopped.

After watching the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Orlando Magic and now the New York Knicks complete blockbuster trades in the recent months, the Hawks may be thinking that it's time for an overhaul of their own. Dropping four of their last five games also plays into Atlanta's thinking.

Whether they decide to go with a minor tweak or a major move remains to be seen, but the Hawks are certainly looking to make a move in the next twenty hours.
