I'm tripping over the Deron Williams deal, there's no way of knowing if it would have worked. We do, however, need a FireOtisSmith.com site BADLY. Someone PLEASE create it, I will visit the site every single day LOL.

Of course Otis isn't going to come out and say, "Well, you know, I offered them Gay-Bitch, but they weren't interested. Who knew? LOL."
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

In no way shape or form do I think the Magic could've put together an offer than was better than what NJ offered, but how in the world do you not call around/get an idea about whos available, especially with a stud elite PG like Dwill who is going to be a FA in one year ?

Maybe I'm overestimating a GMs responsibilities I dk...

True, but Otis has been more honest lately, I remember right before/after the big deals the Magic made, Brian Schmitz said he asked Otis if he asked about Melo and Otis said "we're not stupid, we asked around" or something. So if Otis says now he didn't think he was available, I think he's really being honest.

who knows though...

I'm sure Otis called Utah, Denver & New Orleans this season. We just don't have the assets ..

@BQRMagic
I've checked w/ my sources dilligently each of last several days. All signs--for now--point to quiet Magic at NBA trade deadline.

i don't see how anybody can trust him right how, he inherited a young team with great talent and turned them into an old team with bad contracts..

BQR has no sauces. For all we know Otis is still working the phones. I doubt it...most likely he's sound asleep at this hour, but there is a chance, right?

In this particular case, it may actually be true that Otis hadn't talked with them in very recent memory. From what I understand, this deal came together pretty much from start to finish within the span of 24 hours, and nobody had any clue it was happening until it happened. In which case Otis is among a group of 27 other GMs who hadn't made a counter offer to what the Nets were dangling (which wouldn't matter anyway, since the NJ package easily beats whatever we could send).
