The only thing I can think of that makes this work for LA is that Williams will make about 4 mil less than Davis in 2012.

Maybe the Clips are trying to clear as much cap space as they can for a run at either Paul or Deron Williams or D12 in 2012.

It would put the Clips at 26 million in salaries. (could be less if they don't extend the QO to Aminu or Bledsoe)

The CBA is still in question, who knows what the cap will be then, but if it's in the 60 mil range, the Clippers in theory could sign Howard and Deron Williams in 2012, and pair them with Griffin and Eric Gordon.

Then again, I'm not sure if Donald Sterling is willing to pay for a winner like that.
