Any possibility the nets go hard after Dwight right now?

Post#1 » by xam2k7 » Wed Feb 23, 2011 6:40 pm

Dwight is eligible for an extension now and probably would like to get one before the new CBA... is there any possibility we offer a lopez and a number of first rounders with a couple expirings to try to secure howard??

No, Orlando is not going to give the Howard up right now, especially in the middle of trying to go deep in the playoffs.

Orlando is not going to throw away their present and future hopes of a championship. There's no way they're going to trade him.

Magic wont trade Howard, they would rather end up like Cleveland and Toronto. They rather take the chance of losing him him in FA and get nothing than trade him now.

Orlando won't trade Dwight....with the new CBA (and the Lakers not having the expirings to sign him outright) they will keep Dwight and either re-sign him or sign and trade him. No way we get him now.
Walk away from this ASAP.

There's a slight possibility in the offseason though. Not a great one but it's there. And only if Howard asks for one.

They will absolutely go after Dwight hard, but they're not going to get him.

Even if he made it clear to management he was eventually going to leave for Brooklyn, he won't be moved until the offseason at earliest.

Losing to the Kings at home, while D-12 goes 31-17 is not a good sign for the Magic.

Being 26 games under .500 is not a good sign for the nets
aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

U mad?? Oh, I'm sorry that I hurt your feelings. Maybe this article will soothe your anxiety...
Dwight
Orlando Magic — posted by zach mccann on February, 23 2011 11:06 PM

Dwight Howard, the Orlando Magic’s unequivocal leader, spent most of Wednesday’s 111-105 loss to the Sacramento Kings pleading for his teammates to play harder.

He exploded on his team during a timeout in the second quarter. He harped on his team in almost every huddle. Even between whistles he’d bark words at his teammates.

After the game, Howard was tired of talking.

“I’ve said everything there is to say,” said Howard, sitting dejectedly in front of his lockers with a semi-circle of reporters around him. “That’s it. I’ve talked every timeout, when we’re in the huddle, in the locker room… What, you want me to Tweet about it? I’ve done everything I’m supposed to do as a leader.”

Maybe an inflammatory Tweet would help the Magic, whose embarrassing loss to one of the league’s worst teams certainly serves as the team’s low point this season.

“If guys don’t want to play, they’ve got to sit down,” Howard said. “We just can’t have guys or anybody out there not playing hard.”

Howard continued (complete video of interview is after the jump).

“Everybody on the team has to step up and play hard,” he said. “I’m not singling anybody out; I’m not calling anybody out. But as a team, if we don’t play hard we’re going to lose every night.”

The Magic allowed the Kings, the 26th-best offensive team in the NBA and missing its best player in Tyreke Evans, shoot 52.5 percent and score 111 points on 103 possessions. It was the King’s second win in their past ten games.

Howard’s problem, however, isn’t with the amount of talent on the Magic. Rather, it’s about the energy they’re bringing.

“We have a lot of talent, but talent will not get you a championship,” Howard said. “We’re one of the most talented teams in the NBA. We’re a deep team. We’ve got guys who can do a lot of different things. But if we don’t bring it every night, it’s a waste of talent.”

That’s a nice speech and those are inspiring words. But as Howard said Wednesday night, “We’ve been talking for a long time. That’s all we seem to do is talk.”
