Nobody wants him. When it takes an unprotected first to get rid of someone...they aren't very desirable.

Buy out. Cavs want Davis less than he wants them. I guarantee that.

Or else they flip him and part of the James TPE and take on an even worse contract and another first rounder.

Remember, Cavs haven't even touched that TPE yet.

Great trade for Cleveland though. They lost their depressed overemotional scrub and got a decent veteran PG in return. If Scott can keep a close watch on Davis, this might turn out great for them.

I'm not sure how Mo Williams, a mid-second round pick, is a bust.

Is it true that the final year of Davis contract is not fully guaranteed?

lol yeah, sacrifice nearly $30M just so you don't have to play for Cleveland. Cleveland (city & team) sucks compared to LA but there's no way he'd go that far. (Most) NBA players aren't that stupid.

It's not that Cleveland is a place that no one wants to play, but rather it reflects on Baron's useless attitude. Baron finally woke up a bit this year due to all the Blake excitement, but now it will be back to Fat Baron and endless injuries (requiring extensive rehab in LA, of course). There's almost no way that Baron will give his best efforts to Cleveland, but that's on Baron, not Cleveland.

I agree with those who say that this deal makes sense for Cleveland (even if Baron plays no more than a handful of games during his contract).

This is going to be amazing. Baron is going to bloat up like a corpse in the hot sun.

Yes, but it only a small amount is unguaranteed.

Baron Davis
2011-2012 - $13,900,000
2012-2013 - $14,750,000 ($12,250,000 guaranteed)
Total guaranteed - $26,150,000 (excluding this season of course)

Mo Williams
2011-2012 - $8,500,000 (Early Termination Option)
2012-2013 - $8,500,000 (Player Option)

Total guaranteed - $17,000,000

MoWill makes 6mill less then Baron, that is all you need to know why this trade was made oh that and the fact Davis shows up FAT out of shape after the summer.

Can anyone please explain to me how is this a GOOD deal for the Clippers?

And it's not at all about Baron, it's about the unprotected lottery pick - why on earth would you give up on that?

Unless this is 1 step in the way of getting Dwight/CP3/Deron, I can't even begin to understand this.

the unprotected part is bad but in a weak draft and chances of them landing another #1 are quite low, I think Sterling couldnt pass up on the 6mill in savings per yr for the next 2 yrs.

Good trade for us. Not a huge Baron Davis fan, but I am loving that unprotected first rounder.

Yea but I mean atleast protect the top 3, I don't think the Cavs would say "no" to that... giving away unprotected lotto picks is just beyond me.

Sterlings just showing Blake he needs to GTFO out Cippers nation the minute he can.

People are REALLY underestimating getting out from under that Baron Davis contract.

And, as for the draft pick, the GMs consensus...not just the Clippers is this draft is whack this year. There are good players, but no clear cut superstar talent. Why bother...

The Clippers rather clear cap space and throw a contract at an upcoming free agent. If Griffin keeps improving it will not be hard to get people to come to LA to play with him.

I would say this is a win-win-lose

Cavs win
Clips win
Baron loses
