Whos the new team leader?
With DWill gone who is going to step up and take the leadership roll of the team? Is there anyone who fits the bill of a leader on the current team now.

D-Will was the leader? Best player does not always equal leader.

There isn't one, it's Corbin and it should be Corbin. The players should all be equal and sacrifice personal glory, run the system to a T and win games as a team.

Raja Bell is likely the guy who has that personality trait.

Re: Whos the new team leader?
To say that they don't need a team leader and that Corbin is the only Leader is stupid. To say all of the players should be equal and sacrifice personal glory is even stupider. This is the NBA! However you may have been joking and if so I get your joke.
They need a team leader, every good team has one or more. Boston, Miami, Lakers, Thunder, Dallas, and the Bulls all have one or more players that are the team leaders. This is the way it needs to be. Just because a player is a leader doesn't mean it makes Corbin less of a coach or man.
With that said I hope that Big AL and Harris step up to lead this team. They have the most talent and could be the leaders on the Jazz. Time will tell.

I actually agree with Toledo, Devin Harris has the personality to be a leader and motivator. I feel he will definately take a big roll. I do feel it won't be on him alone, but he will definately be one of the leaders. I think AK and Raja will both be speaking out as well.

Who's going to be the Captain that comes to midcourt to meet the officials? Probably AK and Millsap.

I vote for Fes. He's a natural leader. He knows where all the good stuff in town is.
For the balance of the season no one is going to step up much. Bell more than the rest just because of experience and personality. Bell is going to wind up coaching after he retires.
Next season it will be Harris because he will be one of the sharper bricks in the room. He and Bell, if Bell is still here, will share a lot of the leadership roles. Bell will teach more. Harris will push by example and softer verbal encouragement. No fits, thrown chairs or ice bags whizzing by in the locker room for the next couple of years.
That's my bet. I think the dressing room is about to become a bit quieter.

Big Al, he has been l tagged with exaggerated labels ever since he left Boston. Before the All Start break Karl Malone told hi to lead by example and I think he will do that.
FYI, how many fans know that he played in the playoffs his rookie year?( And helped boston win a game).
How many fans know that his last year in Boston, the management made him sit out games so that they could tank and land Greg Oden? They even asked him to come back late in the year, but after two wins (one where he dominated Dwight Howard) they decided it wasnt possible to tank with him in the line up so they told him to sit out. If you think I'm ling them just check the game logs for his last year in boston.
Lastly, Deron Williams was a much bigger problem in the locker room that it appears. The main issue the team had with him is that he never held himself accountable. It was always someone elses fault. He had to be traded because half of the team despised the way he disrespected a 68 yr old man...
Hats off to management, wish they would have done it before Sloan left but great job

Re: Whos the new team leader?
Still no team captain designated?
Here's the candidates I can think of:
Al Jefferson
-He's our first option on offense and an NBA veteran, and he's probably part of our long term scheme. But, he's only been here a year.
Andrei Kirilenko
-He played with the Jazz with Karl Malone and John Stockton. He's a vet. But, he may be leaving.
Raja Bell
-He's poised and has the most seasons in the NBA on the team (10). But he's not very good at basketball anymore (I hope he at least hits the three for us over the next few years).
Mehmet Okur
-He's a vet that's been with Utah for a long time. But he's very injured.
I'd like to see them name Kirilenko the new team captain with hopes that he takes the full MLE this summer. Otherwise, they should watch the rest of this season to see who could do it well, and then name them at the start of next season.

In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.
