So Erdan a project big, and Harangody... a poor mans Troy Murphy? Not bad at all for only a 2nd.

Will either be on an NBA roster in 2 years?

Mayber Erden is because he's got real size, but I can't see either really being contributors.

The Cavs are making serious plays at the trade deadline. We are going to be real dangerous in the NCAA tournament next month.

As a Celtic fan who watches every game:

Unless the Celtics are getting more than a 2nd round pick from Cleveland (some reports indicate that we're getting your LAC pick, which is a pipe dream but seems to be a false rumor) - Cleveland by far got the best of this trade.

If you're going to say that these players suck, there's no point in having a second round, right? I mean, Harangody and Erden are very serviceable players. Granted, they were 2nd round picks themselves and likely not going to be game changing players on a title bound team, but they're not bad basketball players.

Erden started a chunk of the season at center when Perkins and Shaq were out with injuries. He has legitimate offensive talent, although he wasn't given enough touches in the post to develop that part of his game. He is more athletic than he looks and can run up and down the floor and finish with authority. He is partially a stonehands, especially with passes going in his direction, but it is a part of his game that has seen tremendous improvement throughout the season. He has also become a much better rebounder over the course of the year. The Troy Murphy comparison is senseless because he's really not a jump shooting big... at all. I'd say that he's like a taller Josh McRoberts ... he brings more to the court than you'd think ... just watch him play. I wonder if Cleveland will give him run.

Harangody... pure hustle guy, can make an outside jumper ranging from mid range to 3 point land (best suited to take 18-20 ft jumpers). He's like a Ryan Gomes type player with marginally less talent. Players like him do have a way of staying in the league for a while.

As a Celtics fan I have no real attachment to Luke, but I'm pretty disappointed that Semih's gone. I think he can develop into a decent player.

Maybe we can turn Erden into the next Varejao? One thing we do have to offer is playing time.

There is no way the Cavs are trading the LAC pick, especially with it being an unprotected top 10 pick.

This is the kind of trade that makes me go eh.. Maybe the Cavs are just looking for more depth in the front court. I don't see either players getting much playing time.

Leon Powe is going to be bought out within a few days.

That leaves a front court of Hickson, a dinosaur, a d-leaguer, and a guy who is only in the league because he is 7ft tall. I think there will be time, at least for Erden.

I do like how we are going to suck and offer these guys plenty of opportunities to play and improve. Maybe they turn into something decent down the line.

I m Turk but i dont like rooting for players, overrating them etc.Erden did ok with Celtics. He has a chance now.He must consistently improve his play and minutes.I will watch his games,I hope he will be worth sacrificing my sleep.

Welcome to the Cavs board. We will be rooting for Erden right along with you. I too am more of a team and basketball fan in general, but you have to root for your fellow countryman to do well. The shared experience of growing up in the same area (whether a state or city here, or country in your case) with a pro player gives you a different type of connection with that player.

You guys may laugh but the times I watched the Celtics and both Oneals were down I thought Semih was okay. Think he's a double doubl;e guy easy with more minutes. Yeah he's raw but this dude did get out on the break and finish. Harangody is the typical Boston whitey banger. I don't know about him. In college he did not impress me. Hope I'm wrong. Or maybe he's here to send ladouchebag a message some game in the future.

Not bad for an early number 2, unless its Miami's number 2 does anyone know which number two we gave Boston? We have a couple of them. Good luck Boston, beat the heat.

It was the Minny 2nd rounder we got with Sessions for the Delonte deal.

'ok' translates to potential double double guy?

Know who esle is raw and gets out on the break and finishes?....Ryan Hollins.

He's a big body, we need one, that's all good. I'm just not seeing this guy as better than a 4th big on a decent team.

Return to Cleveland Cavaliers
