Hollinger on White

+ Floor-spacing power forward with good midrange jump shot.

+ Will go to boards and makes few mistakes. Rarely turns it over.

+ B-athlete who can be overmatched defensively. Won't create offense.

White played only 102 minutes after enduring thumb surgery; he's been with the team for two years but has seldom played because of injuries. However, his performance in the D-League should raise a few eyebrows: He averaged a point every two minutes on 60.9 percent shooting.

In his limited NBA time, White is shooting 56 percent on 2s and an amazing 20-of-30 on "in-between" shots. Whatever his other limitations, he appears to be a good enough short-range sniper to have a career. However, he may not see much action given the Thunder's depth.

Hollinger on Cunningham

+ Tweener forward with solid midrange jump shot and good nose for ball.

+ More comfortable at 4, but gives up inches and struggles on glass.

+ Never turns ball over. Average athlete but defends with energy.

Portland's unheralded second-round pick has a future ahead of him as a floor spacer if he can defend power forwards successfully. Cunningham made 49.5 percent of his long 2s as a rookie, and because he took most of his shots off the catch, he generated the lowest turnover ratio of any NBA power forward.

Cunningham also ranked in the top 20 power forwards in both blocks and steals per minute and had a solid rebound rate. At 6-8, 230, however, he needs to show he can check bigger 4s in the post. If the answer is affirmative, he's a solid rotation player.

As I said in the Trade Thread, Dante Cunningham is a nice little player. His stats will never stand out as amazing, but he does all the little things you need players to do. Nice fundamentals, cheap, young, good mid-range jumper. He's solid for 20 minutes.

Dante is the type who wont often wow you, but also never disappoint you.

He's a great hustle player, smart, sweet jumper and has a lot of room to grow as a player. IMO he is future starting material in the right situation, but whether he reaches that level or not is still a question.

Solid D, good instincts and quick scoring punches off the bench are what you can really expect from him. Good spacer, great finisher at the rim on the break.

He's no Wallace but I think you guys will like him, I always thought he should get more minutes in Portland. He should work on some post up moves, he never really got to in Portland because he was always stuck playing against guys bigger than him due to our centers being in the hospital.

DJ has a solid mid range jumper, athletic, moves well in and around the paint.

Cunningham is a blue collar player, with a good mid range game also. That and he's surprisingly effective playing the pf spot for his size.

That's all i know.

:o :o   Well the trade deadline has come and now gone.Heres the postives and negatives as it effects Bobcats
Nazr for Mo Pete and D.J. White----We got a young23 year old big monster power forward player to back up TT and MO Pete"s expiring for IR list
GW for Prezbella and Cunningham and 2 Portland 1st----We got a young long 24 year old forward in a 3's body who likes to play 4 and an injured prone (knee problem) Center's expiring we hope can stay healthy to backup Kuwamee until the end of the season. The 2 first round draft picks are probably late teen or twenties. I don't know if they are 2011 or 2012 or split?
We picked up allot of cash in the two expiring contracts in both deals so that is good for the financial stability of the team going into probably a lockout year. As for the playoffs, with Dunalevy(pacers) now out season with broken thumb we still might make 8th seed but will again go 4 and out.
I assume the 2011 remain season starting lineup will now look like
DJ- Liv -Col
Hendo-Carroll-mo pete
Jax-dbrown-cunningham--
Diaw-dmac-najera-TT-White
Kuwamee -prezbella-diop

HUM--17 players--somebodys got to get waived released by buy out or is there another trade out there we have not heard about?

I watched Cunningham a lot at Nova. His offense is very much like that of Tyrus - without the explosion and athletic ability. He has a very nice mid range J.

Great with the pick and pop shooting from around the top of the key.

looks like white and cunningham are nice pieces. we've seen a LOT more development with youngins under silas and i think they'll both be given a clean slate and some burn to find their place on this team. who knows, silas and oakley might be just the cats to get these guys to reach their potential, whatever that ultimately is.

DJ White is a former first round pick with some injury problems. I think he could evolve into a nice backup for Tyrus in a few years if he can stay healthy.

Dante was a nice player for Nova. He carried the team in the times when Reynolds was held in check and developed very nicely in his time in school. White is a guy who's had some "underrated" hype in the past but hasn't done anything special.

All in all, neither guy is anything to write home about. They've both nice depth players on a good team, neither one should get more than 10-12 minutes a game.

I know this isn't the thread topic, but I thought I'd include it anyways. IF Charlotte doesn't buyout Joel, he's a great player. Let me start off by saying you'll learn to hate when people misspell his last name (the proper way to spell it is Przybilla) :D. Overall he's been one of the biggest class acts to ever play in Portland and he brings his all every night. His health has been an issue recently which has obviously made Portland more willing to trade him but if he can get back to his old form, you guys got a great defensive center. Joel never put up huge stats, but he's always been one of those guys who fits perfectly within his role. He's a phenomenal defender and rebounder and when healthy would put his heart out there every minute. Believe me, you guys will love him.

I think that Coach Silas and Oak will LOVE White.

He's pretty much the anti-Boris!!

We know that Cunningham didn't play much for the Blazers or else their hype machine would have deemed him untouchable. Oh, how I wish it were...

you guys are really going to like Dante. The last three weeks or so he has really come through and had some nice games. He crashes the offensive board hard and will get you some second chance opportunities. Smart player who is quick enough to get out on the fast break, just as long as he doesn't have to dribble it.

White put up 20 and 10 with 1.5 blocks per game in the D over 16 games.

Did it in 36 per and on 60% and 87% shooting.

I'm thinking that if peeps were excited at the idea of Craigh Smith backing up the PF position, they should be equally excited about White doing the same?

I know we loaded it up at PF, but I really love the potential of these guys. I think Cunningham and/or White could be the perfect back-up to Tyrus in the future. I'm so excited to get these guys in here! Seems like we got some good young talent here. Oak should do wonders with them, and Silas will give them a chance to play. I can't wait for one of these guys to have success and for Mo Pete to be very effective off the bench. I seirously think we will keep winning games and I can't wait for us to keep up the pace and for people to calm down.

I wasn't Cunningham's biggest fan but the guy flat out works his ass off night in, night out. He will always get every ounce out of his talent. He's a bit of a tweener but he makes up for it in so many different ways. He has the potential to create space, can hit the mid range shot, etc.

You'll like him, A LOT.
