i proposed that yesterday, but it all depends on arenas..if he doesnt opt out its useless

I like that idea, actually.

Maybe he could attract either Deron or CP3 over here. Not sure how they would feel about being in a small market....

I don't understand the hate for the Shard deal still. It helped get us to the NBA Finals and win a game. IMO we were still on the rise. To me the problems started that offseason when we moved Alston/Lee/Battie + for VC who never worked out here. Since then Otis has made several disgusting moves. QRich's deal, Duhon's deal, trading for Arenas and Turk's AWFUL contracts. Trading away draft picks like no one's business. Drafting Daniel Orton. There is literally no way to make this team better via trade right now. We don't have picks to improve through the draft and FA's are going to be lined up to join New York, Chicago, Boston, LA, and Miami. I will always support this team but you can **** off if you are going to tell me we will be fine.

Why does he need to discuss the situation with the media? Why would this make you call for his job?

Its not the comment that has me calling for his job, it his sub-par performance at his job.

I just can't believe that he was willing to talk about the dwight situation. Why open it up to the media? He will now be bombarded with questions from here on out because he chose to talk about it (even more than if he just said "We're trying to build a championship team WITH Dwight") .

Are you all delusional? You can not shed 40 million in contracts. Also, players don't give up 40 million for the sake of a team.

Count me in, I like this idea as well... but only if we don't win a 'ship this season

No trophy... then blow this team up... start over, clear the books... and let Dwight call the shots, get this team back on track through good drafts, signings, and trades... show initiative and do what's right

This is EXACTLY what needs to happen. Point blank period. Problem is how do we get someone to take Hedo? An why would Arenas use his opt out clause? However I hope Otis call's Dwight into his office at the end of the season and tell's him to show him what he wants and get it done. Dwight is priority #1 obviously, give Dwight the power to call some shots this offseason.

I agree, except I think we had cap space and were just way too eager to get Dwight another 'star', so we blew our load on Shard.

If we could just convince Dwight to pick up his option for the '13 season than Turk and Arenas will be coming off the books right? I might have Arenas and Shard mixed up.

Nah, the Rashard deal was necessary. The amount of money wasn't, I guess. I wonder if there was a way that he could have just structured Rashard's huge deal to end in 2012, like Dwight's?

But like you said, Otis looks to be steadily driving this team into the ground this last year or so.

I don't think being in a big market means that much to CP3. Weren't we on the top of his list when he wanted to get traded in the summer or something?

I hope it doesn't.

I'm just brainstorming here, but would you guys want Donnie Walsh as our GM? Dude is a master when it comes to rebuilding and getting expiring contracts, and appears to be on his way out of NY. And before people start flaming me, I know we probably aren't gonna blow up this team, just thinking about possibilities.

^magicman123, quick get Otis and his finance people on the phone... brilliant plan... clear the books... sign both Dwight and Deron at the end of the day, reclaim happiness and dominance *cue maniacal laugh*

Yeah, I refuse to believe that Otis would actually trade for him without thinking Gil would opt out.

He has to know that '06 Arenas is dead and will never return, and no matter how much Gil gets back together, he'll never be worth his contract anymore.

He can't be that blinded by friendship, because almost anyone with common sense could see that.

Honestly, I'd be all for resetting in a similar fashion that Miami/Wade did. Grab 2 stars (Dwight and Paul/Deron) and re-up from there.

Yeah, he has definitely turned NY around.

And from what I read, he also had a plan to get Melo for less than they gave up, but Dolan went over his head.

Who would take these guys?

Jameer: Only one team in the league would want this guy and that's the team with Stan as the coach. But he IS an expiring.

Redick: 2 years 14 mil? lol

Bass: Pretty decent trade value

Duhon and Richardson: lol
