Who would take these guys?

Jameer: Only one team in the league would want this guy and that's the team with Stan as the coach. But he IS an expiring.

Redick: 2 years 14 mil? lol

Bass: Pretty decent trade value

Duhon and Richardson: lol

Jameer: Atlanta or Charlotte
Redick: Chicago
Bass: Anyone looking for a good PF
Duhon and Q Rich: Still lol

Actually Jameer would be the easiest guy to trade. He is dirt cheap for what you get from him and plenty of teams would be interested. Sacramento would love to have him I'm sure. Same goes for Bass. You could most likely toss Duhon or Q into a seperate deal. An Redick shouldn't be too hard either. Hell the Bulls signed him to that contract to begin with. You may have to do some shopping with JJ, but at the end of the day I bet you could find a taker. I'm sure the Bulls would have had some interest today. The big problems for us are going to to be Turk, who I don't think a single team in the league would take and Arenas.

It's easy to trade all of our valuable assets for expiring contracts, the trick is getting rid of Turk and Gil for expiring contracts.

Getting rid of Nelson/Bass would be very easy ..

The most difficult/impossible part would be to dump Gilbert/Hedo

Our only hope is that the new CBA has something new to solve big contracts, like Michael Redd, Eddy Curry, Gil, Lewis ..

This is what I've been wondering about, does anyone know how something like this could work?

I Gilbert's case, it's easy, because he's been injured and isn't anywhere near his contract. But what about Turk? He would be a little harder.

Yeah, who were we kidding. December was Otis Smith's big splash. He already swallowed some of his pride by shopping Vince Carter and bringing back Hedo Turkoglu. He wasn't about to do a complete 180 just after a couple months. He doesn't want ownership to think he is insecure about the moves he made that he needs to correct them again and again.

I'm pretty sure he knows that we are in trouble and that the competition has gotten much tougher but this is a matter of pride now. OS is sticking to his guns to save face.

After looking at the players available in 2012, there's not much out there after D-Will, CP3, and Dwight. Al Jefferson and Kevin Love are the only other notable players I see.

Now, if the new CBA has an addendum allowing teams to cut underperforming players, then Otis will be a genius.

Where are you looking up 2012 free agents?

I'd like to think Otis convinced Arenas to opt out of those last two contract years, but I don't think he did.

That's just too forward-thinking and strategic of him to pull off. He likely traded for Arenas trusting that Gilbert would be our Carmelo Anthony/Kobe Bryant type scorer beside Dwight.

Another ominous Sentinel article, here are key quotes:

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/o ... 407.column

"We hope we're not in a Carmelo Anthony situation with Dwight," Magic General Manager Otis Smith said.

Smith said it wasn't necessary to get an answer from Howard. You'd expect the Magic to have an inkling at some point, but trading him is the last thing on their minds.

Howard can opt out after next season and go through the recruiting process as a free agent.

"We're not going to change the way we do business: We're going to let this play out behind closed doors," Smith said.

Smith, understandably, is hesitant about addressing the matter and careful when he does.

Smith said the franchise has tried to do everything it can to help Howard win a title. The Magic got him a title shot in 2009, but Orlando lost in the NBA Finals to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Magic have spent money --- they currently have the second-highest payroll in the NBA at $89 million. They have made 10 significant trades (including sign-and-trade deals, such as with Rashard Lewis) since drafting Howard in 2004 out of Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy.

"You would hope you've done enough,'' Smith said.

BTW I was reading this thread all day and obviously was sad the Magic didn't make a move but gotta give you guys props, you fellas are hilarious with all your jokes...and huge props to BelgianMagic for constant twitter updates...
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Please sit down Otis Smith. You haven't done enough. It is RDV who has. He wrote this team a blank check. All you have done is spend that money and sign and trade for a bunch of albatross contracts and average/above average role players.

Interested to see where Kevin Love ends up. I can't see him staying in Minnesota.

Sometimes I wonder if we should have made that trade in December to begin with.

In some ways, I actually prefer Carter over Richardson. I'd rather have Lewis over Arenas. And I don't know if having Turkoglu (when he isn't even the playmaker) is better than the security of Gortat backing Howard.
