So as a fan, if 3 first rounders and Bogans wasn't good enough I wonder how this return makes eryone feel.

Tell me about his game, make me love him as well; because right now, I hate this deal for the Grizz.

Deal isn't happening. Way to go FO, your incompetence is truly outstanding can't wait to see that awesome chemistry next game and who gets screwed when Rudy comes back

McRoberts is a solid "1st Big Man off the bench" that is an extremely athletic, high energy guy that has some 3pt range ( thanks to Jim "I want everyone on my Team to be able to hit a 3pt shot" O'Brien ), is a solid rebounder ( not super great...but not a weak rebounder ), decent shotblocker ( mainly due to his length and athleticsm ), has an above average Basketball IQ and MOST NOTABLY has very good passing skills/court vision ( which is something that I will miss as a Pacer fan ). He was our Starting PF but mainly due to lack of choice and fit. On the defensive end.....he's better suited to guard athletic "face up" PF/C that don't rely on strength to score ( again, mainly due to his length and solid lateral speed as a PF ). As for his offense, he has 3pt range ( where he can be relied upon to hit a 3pt shot if he's left open rather then being a "high volume" 3pt shooter ) but his overall offensive game is limited to alley-oops and highlight reel dunks. I wouldn't want him to take a mid-range jumpshot on a regular basis though.
I'm not trying to sell him as a Starting Quality PF.....he's a much better 1st Big Man off the bench that can play some Center minutes but is better suited to play the backup PF spot. The key is just using him the right way and playing to his strengths ( which is NOT what Jim O'Brien did prior to his departure ) and what the new Pacers Coach did.
One last thing to note.....as mentioned above...his passing skills and court vision are very solid and something that you will pick up on if you're offense relies upon ball movement and cuts to the basket.

So Memphis FO thought Battier was a better replacement for Gay than Mayo, pretty telling that the deal was too late.

How lucky are we? We would have regretted that deal for a long time. Unfortunately it would not surprise me if OJ Mayo receives his first DNP Coaches Decision once Rudy gets back since Shane can play some two guard and may end up starting.

It was a three-way with New Orleans involved and acquiring Brandon Rush. They're the team that apparently pussed out, ruining the trade.

Call was logged at 3:01 p.m. and Orleans was involved, but they were the team that pulled out, according to a source. Rush was going to N.O.

Absolutely ridiculous. Cannot believe they were going to give Mayo away like that. I hope this lights a spark and he tears it up for the rest of the year. So sick of the pathetic decisions that this franchise makes.

Re: Mayo to Pacers for McRoberts + 1st
As some in here might recall, I mentioned a week or two ago that Josh McRoberts could be useful to Memphis (along with Jeff Foster). I like his game for the price he's paid. But I'm not dissapointed that the deal fell through since he certainly isn't on OJ Mayo's level, regardless that they play different positions.
But the whole thing makes me wonder what happens now? Heisley was quoted once he believed the deal was done that Mayo wasn't going to get any playing time so it's better that he go somewhere that he can play. Now that there's no trade Heisley's statement has to make Mayo feel warm and fuzzy. Pretty awkward for him the rest of the season.
And since the latest report is that it was the Hornets that backed out, thus cancelling the whole deal, I have to wonder if Mark Cubans rant about the Carl Landry trade, and how the league had no right to make the trade somehow factored into the Hornets decision not to go ahead with this one.
It's pretty interesting now. But the Grizzlies probably counted on the Pacers pick, which will be somewhere in the mid twenties in a weak draft, to pass onto Houston in the Thabeet deal.
Not that I had any faith in the Grizzlies actually drafting well anyways.

It is too late the damage has been done. Mayo needs to come back home this off season where it all began, and have us remind him he is going to be the best shooting guard in the league one of these days, just in case he forgot.
He needs to come back home, and train, train, train while being motivated by everyone who doubts his talents. This is a slap in the face, how dare McRoberts be in the same sentence as OJ Mayo.
This off season i'd wouldn't be surprised if OJ spend entire days in the gym, possibly even sleeping there. The guy is that dedicated. OJ Mayo, i'm proud to be a fan of his.
OJ Mayo , Michael Jordan , Allen Iverson.

If Mayo isn't even playing at least 25 mins with Gay out, how much more with the addition of Battier and when Rudy returns? Mayo could go on to become the most talented 3rd string guard in NBA history.

Mayo will not start the 2011/12 season with us, that´s my bet.

So apparently the Bulls couldn't offer enough, but a proposal of McRoberts and a pick is enough? Only to be spoiled by the Hornets pulling out and not the Grizz.... wow.
Good luck with Mayo in the off-season. And good luck coping with your front office and ownership.
-ps- for those not in the know, apparently the Bulls offered Brewer and 3 picks....

Seems like the Grizz wanted a big in return - I would presume that the Bulls weren't interested in offering Taj and/or Asik.
