Kryptonate - I hope we play him

Post#1 » by Clangus » Fri Feb 25, 2011 5:09 am

Every keeps saying that he wont see minutes and that he'll be Third string. I HOPE NOT.

Nate is a sparkplug. Dude can drop 8-12 points in a blink. To not play him would be stupid, I believe he is more than a throw in.
Sure he doesn't seem like a Presti guy, sure he's undersized, but they guy can ball and put up points in a hurry (not to mention he has good range)

I think we Start Harden and have Nate share the guards spots with Maynor and Thabo. Give him 10-15 mins a game as a Bench scorer.

Thoughts?

I don't think there are minutes for him unless you go really small and cut Cook back out of the rotation. I think Cook's earned his PT lately, he's played well defensively.

The Maynor / Harden / Cook wing lineup looks better to me than Maynor / Robinson / Harden. Maybe Brooks will take a liking to him, but I'd feel bad for Cook who's been really putting in the effort.

I think KryptoNate will get minutes as the back up SG.

I see Thabo getting about 12minutes a night at SF. Maybe some spot minutes at SG. But this is the perfect time to start Harden at SG with the line up shuffle.

I see Nate as the 6th man role that Harden has been in.

How is Nate's character? Will he be a bad influence or is he all good?

He's a good locker room guy. I think it's great that he came over with Perkins:

"With Perk, everybody thinks he's mean because of how he looks but he's a soft giant. He has a good heart. He's a good person. I told him he's not alone. We're going (to OKC) together. It's not like you'll be by yourself, you got me right by your side. We're going to make it work together."

Wasn't there a rumor a year or two ago that Presti was interested in Robinson? Most of us scratched our heads because Nate was the guy driving D'Antoni crazy at the time with unprofessional behavior on the court and was known to have a big mouth off the court.

On a young team that has a short history of tightening up in pressure situations, having a young veteran who is a bit of a fool and can help keep everyone loose should be a good thing. On the court, you have to take the good with the bad. Allow Robinson to be aggressive offensively and he might pair with Westbrook to drive opposing coaches crazy for spurts. This team could use an aggressive player off the bench while everyone else is differing.

On paper, I don't see his place in the rotation, but he has the potential to prove himself a weapon, if Brooks has his eyes open.

I can see Nate as a Plan B if Westbrook or Maynor go down with an injury.
Life may not be the party we hoped for but while we are here we might as well dance!

I think that Nate will see minutes. He will be used as a spark plug kind of , if he is hot he will play more but if not , he will sit. I think that brooks has learned that he will need to go 10 or 11 deep. If Harden gets the starting role, nate will earn more minutes because he can be the spark off of the bench like harden but if harden stays as 6 man, it will cut into nates mintues and limit him to 8 to 10 minutes a game (like they do cook now). Nate has 2 years left on his contract so he has time to prove his worth. Maynor is a solid player and I think that the thunder know that they may lose him next year because he could start for alot of teams in the NBA. Maynor will be trade bait during the summer for some draft picks im sure.

The thunder arena sure will be exciting with RW, Nate, Durant, Harden and IBLOCKA (IBAKA) . The thunder will need a veteran pg down the stretch and in the playoffs.

Nate can score the ball. I see him getting similar mins as Cook if not taking his mins or even Maynor's. The thing about Nate is he can hit the three ball and score 20 a game.

But, first things first Brooks will go back to the 9-man rotation for about 5 games once Perk is ready to play.

Perk/ Nazr
Ibaka/ Collison
Durant
Harden/ Thabo
Westbrook/ Maynor

Once he gets a feel for thoes guys you will start to see Nate and Cook (these two on the floor insted of Thabo and Maynor will equal a lot more scoring) on the floor.

Outside of semi decent stretch when Rondo was hurt earlier in the year. Nate has been awful this year. If nate ain't hitting his shots hes absolutely useless.

If he is not shooting well he does not add value. But, he has exploded for 40 pts before, and can score 20 in 20 min.

He plays at 100mph, for better or worse. When he was at Washington, never heard any issues about lockerroom distractions and things of that sort. He is a good guy in person too, cocky, but when you are 5'8, you kind of have to be.

He can definitely score in bunches when he's in the right mindset. He starts missing when he gets the idea that he can do whatever he wants. As long as he stays focused, he's effective.

He's also a great locker room guy. He'll have no problem fitting in right away.

Also you guys will love him down there, he is fearless, will leap into the stands to get balls, things like that. That is why Nate had one of the best selling jerseys in the NBA when he was at New York, People loved him.

I think that alot of people will be surprised. Nate is going to get minutes. He is a guy who can pressure the pg 94feet and is a veteran. I think that he will be a good addition because of his quickness and pressure defense. Everyone is talking about nate scoring. With perkins, collison ibaka and nazr. He and rw will play together sometimes

Have you watched this season or just today's game? Maynor does a fine job running the second unit and usually always comes out with a positive +/- at the end of the game. He just had an awful game today.
